This how-to shows you how to make a warm air intake similar to the aluminum intake system, but for less money and slightly less performance gains.

How To Do It

Step 1

Undo the 3 clips that hold the top cover on the aribox and remove the air filter. Remove the clip that holds in the IAT sensor and remove it from the box. Then use a socket wrench to remove the bolt at the bottom of the box and on the side bracket

Step 2

Make sure your PVC pipe is cut to about 3" long, and insert half of it into the end of the intake tube and tighten the hose clamp to secure it in place

Step 3

Slip the end of the K&N filter onto the protruding PVC pipe and tighten the hose clamp to secure it in place. You can just let the setup sit there, or attach it with zip ties to the stock airbox bracket

Step 4

You need to relocate the IAT sensor, which senses the temperature of incoming air. You could just let it dangle, but I just used some black electrical tape and attached it to a lower radiator hose. You could also extend the wires and relocate it outside the engine bay so it would sense cooler air, but I wouldn't recommend it, as the sensor could get damaged from being exposed to the elements. The picture shows the intake with the aluminum intake tube.

Step 5

Fire the engine up, stomp on the gas and listen to the engine purr and the exhaust rumble. Want to gain even more power with an even more free flowing system? Just click here!
