Only internal slave can be bleeded, you can't bleed external slave.

In other word, 92-94 can be bleeded, 91- can't.

Actually, the internal slave was only used in 93-94 cars. You can bleed the external slave systems, I found a writeup in the factory manual that explains it..... it is just not as easy as with the bleeder valves.

Bleeding Procedure for clutch without a bleeder valve.

1) Remove the slave cylinder from the transmission.
2) Loosen the clutch master cylinder mounting nuts to the ends of the studs, but do not remove the master cylinder.
3) Remove reservoir cap and diaphragm.
4) Depress slave cylinder pushrod ? inch and hold.
5) Install diaphragm and cap while holding down the pushrod.
6) Release slave cylinder pushrod.
7) Hold the slave cylinder vertically with the pushrod end facing down. Note: the slave cylinder should be lower than the master cylinder.
8 ) Press the pushrod 1/3 into the cylinder in short strokes.
9) Remove cap and inspect for bubbles, if bubbles are present, repeat steps 1-8 until there are no more bubbles.
10) Reinstall parts and start the engine, push the clutch to the floor and hold for 10 seconds. Then select reverse gear, if it grinds? repeat procedure.

It is actually in the transmission repair thread.......

Actually Brad that write up in the GM service manual is dumb and very hard to perform. What i found is that if you take it out of the car ( the whole line and slave and master cylinder) prop the master cylinder up on a chair. Then with the slave push the rod in and out using the cement floor with a pad or something under it. ( do it a bunch of times and keep filling it with fluid as the air comes out) This is much easier to push the rod doing it this way. If you do it in the car your hand will be sore with in seconds.

I'm going to guess that your car has a cable driven speedo [mechanical speedo] and the trans definately has an electronic set-up. Definately a tough one because I believe that the '93 uses a reluctor wheel style and you need the helical gear set-up in order to run the mechanical speedo.

Maybe think aftermarket speedometer.

Can I get rid of the cable from the auto, the one that connects to the shifter then goes to the steering column?

Yes, that cable is only used to lock the auto shifter into park and to keep the ignition switch from being able to lock, with the shifter out of park.
It the second reason it is strongly recommended to get a manual steering column, so that it has the ignition lock, release button.
