Within the next couple weeks. Have a big job coming up on the mill, and a small one starting tomorrow, gonna try to slip the adapter in between. I'll be calling around for AL costs today or tomorrow so it will be here and ready. You guys will be updated

That 3.5 DOHC TB looks awfully close in bolt pattern to the TB from the 4.3 L vortec engine.

If they have the same pattern, I'd like one to fit up to a 3500 plenum.

I have a 70mm Vortech TB, and can check for you

Weston19, do you mean to adapt the 3400 TB to a 3500?

wasas9, sorry, but the adapter would have to be re-designed to work with the 70mm. The IAC port is much larger, and the entire adapter would need to be widened.

Plus I think the bolt pattern is different. Same 3 bolts but the top one on the vortec is more centered between the 2 bottom from what I could tell when I looked into it.

Yep, and the bottom two holes are spread more. The current design can't even be modified to work is what I was getting at.

No i mean the multi adapter to adapt the 65 mm tb to either the 3400 or 3500 plenum? If that is even one that you are making. I dont know if i will end up using a 3500 plenum, but i would like to open up the top end a bit and with headers and a nice LIM P&P job it should work allright.

Yes, that is how they are all made now.

I finally got around to looking into fitting the 3400tb to the 3500 uim with this adapter. The 2 holes used to secure the tb actually match up to the 3500 manifold. The only problem is that the tb is turned ccw ~15* or so. Also there is no way to hook up the factory throttle cable bracket. So a modified bracket will be required. I'm not sure if there will be any clearance issues with the crossover or not. I will have to see how it sits on the engine.

I will get some pictures tommorrow. I will let you guys know how it fits on the engine also. I don't plan on using the stock 3400 tb for long, so this will be just a temporary setup till I get a 65mm throttle-body.

I see. WOT has the adapter for using the 56mm on the 3500. That's what I have on my car currently (well actually a 52mm now). It has the top tapped for the stock bracket.

So the 2 holes for the 56mm TB go through the adapter to the manifold without modifying anything? Neat. I bet then you could just bolt up the 56mm TB right to the manifold itself then, cable bracket issues aside.

My TB and adapter showed up this weekend. I had a spare air cleaner tube and had to work it on there with some force. I also cleaned it up and got it looking good. Not sure if I will leave it like that or paint it black or maybe a dark silver.

After work tomorrow I will pick up a LX5 gasket and if it's not too late mock it up on the car without the cable bracket (its coming to me in the mail). I'll check out TPS, IAC, (both look just like the other 3x00's) and fitment with the air cleaner tube and anything else. I'll probably turn the car on and rev it a few times and see how it sounds and responds to the more air per TPS position.

Hopefully my hood clears it and everything else, and the cable bracket mods easily and works without much issue. I've been trying to get a silly larger TB on my car for more than a year now with no success! LOL

Here is a pic of the TB you saw earlier in the thread, now in my hands. Notice it says MPFI on it?? WTF Is the LX5 DOHC motor MPFI?

Then there is a pic after I cleaned it up.

Stopped by to get a gasket but they had to order in. Then I looked online and called back to get them to order the right one.

The correct P/N is:
ROL: CM55567
Fel-Pro: 61304

The other P/N's that come up are a rubber o-ring for some other part of the intake. Apparently stock TB bolts up to an adapter and uses a paper gasket (what we need) and then the adapter bolts up with an o-ring to the intake manifold.

Oddly on OReilly's site they list the CM55567 as "EXHAUST ACCESSORIES - TBI GASKET (02-99 OLDS 3.5L)".... LOL exhaust accessory? No wonder the parts guy didn't see it as a selection. Ordering by part numbers FTW!
