Just thought i'd mention that you can do it the right way too... using the right side spindal on the right side....

it's explained here...
http://www.beretta.net/performance_corner/custom/susbrake/bigbrake.html

It puts the calipers on the rear side allowing for 50% less pedal feel... you'd end up with the feel of anti lock brakes...

Is that a proven fact...? I am not trying to say you're wrong or anything, I'm just curious as to how this can change anything...?

so all you have to do is, basically, put the left side spindle on the right side and vice versa, and bend the brake line to go to the rear?

I'm really not sure if it's true, that was just taken from http://www.beretta.net 's website, the guy who made that how-to is pretty smart and knows his stuff... (Aaron Choate, 92 GTZ, Quad 4, Turbo, Nitrous) I have videos' of him raping 3800 supercharged's real bad... it'd be like a 12 second muscle car vs my beretta with the 3.1 Auto...

Hi, I found that a 95 Grand Am used the same 10 inch rotor and knuckle and brake caliper as the ones from 92' to 94' Cavaliers did. Theres a large abundance of Grand Ams in salvage yards. So take your pick.

Not sure as to why but i also noticed that my friend ryan's 3rd gen uses a usable steering knuckle... i think his tie rod is off that knuckle though and wouldnt' change anything other than having the thing there not being used... he can use my rotors and pads i have for my 10" swap that i'm the process of completing... sometime this year...

Okay I got around to starting my brake upgrade... I will make my own post to show with pictures in the appropriate forum however... I did put new Wheel bearings in my 91 Spindles, Less than a month ago.

I Remember reading the how-to I posted because I was thinking about going to do Aaron Choate's way of the brake upgrade but decided to do things the V6 Way...

Because the wheel bearings are new in my 91 spindals I would like to use them in my 92+ upgrade. I did some research and found out the wheel bearings are identical as the part numbers match. I did not want to use the old/new dust shields behind the bearings because once they are pulled probability says that i will bend/break/tear them in some way so I tried ordering new ones. I had a hard time finding them and I ended up getting them from Napa.

Here is the part number If anyone else has a hard Time finding them, Napa has them. the Part number is 18765 and is considered an Oil Seal (yes it's the right part as they work) and cost me around $6 for the pair (US funds)

Later!

It may, but not without some customization.

Hmmm....

That list has a few errors, and its only for the replacement parts (caliper/rotor/pads) not the part you really need (spindle).

Thanks though.

seanski wrote:
all the vehicles you listed the parts will work, the spindles are different but you can make it work, just cut the steering arm off the 3rd gen spindles

*EDIT* I have completed the swap, very easy, just swap the L with the R like it says to keep them in the Front!

just thought i'd say.. it doesnt matter if the calipers are toward the front or back of the car.. it makes no difference in stopping power or pedal feel. 92-94 had them in the rear, then in 95+ they went back to the front again, so its easiest to just leave them in the front so you can use the shorter style hoses and not have to bend any lines.
