The guys with Fbodies are using the Gen1 60* headers on Gen3 heads by slotting the holes so they mount up. There aren't any headers made that can be modified in a similar fassion to work on using Gen3 headers to Gen2 heads?

I ordered 24 u bends yesterday and will be here next week. We are starting on a universal type header for Gen3 FWD 3x00's. If there is someone here in South FL willing to let me mock up on their car we can make some for you guys as well.

Our target price is around $500 for uncoated mild steel.

And if there are doubts that we will make them, you can look at Loner's car in which we fabricated his turbo kit. He's about to break into the 12's if he can get enough traction.

If You could make them work with automatic then I'd prolly be interested. I was going to weld some up Myself, but I looked in the engine bay and seen how little room there is, and it just looks like it would be tough to get them in there and built correctly. I'd prolly rather buy them then try and make a set! lol

Let me know if you need any measurements for the Jbody engine bay, i could CAD up a few different views with clearances to things like the shift cables and heater core lines and the cooling fan.

Yeah, the cooling fan in the Lbody had to be changed out. I think if we went with smaller primaries (1 5/8" on the other set), we can get tighter bends to help clear. We just got a slim fan in Loner's car and they worked perfect.

A CAD drawing will help, but it's still tough without an actual car here lol.

I had to remake these once because I didn't have the car here...

And they went in like butter, though...

I like the second race in this video, if he could hook, that Mustang would have been toast (you can hear second winding out just after the shift due to spin).

FF: The corisca has a shorter hood and space between the radiator support and engine than the beretta. Not sure how the J body stacks up in that regards, but a beretta will have more room for front header than a corsica. A 96 beretta fan I hear clears headers best.

The materials are supposed to be here by next Fri, no one here is in FL?!?!

Gen3 660 headers are already planned, but during the fabrication, now is the time to get a prototype made for the Gen2's

I thought this thread was about MPFI headers? Your sig pic makes me think you have a 3x00

If I remember correctly 3X00 headers fit an MPFI motor just fine. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm almost sure you can make 1 set for both applications.

Are you planning to make shorties or long tubes??

I'm assuming there will be a provision for an o2 sensor. Will there be EGR provisions??

They will look similar to this, excep these went to the fron to feed the turbo...

Are the Gen2 bolts have the same spacing as Gen3?

The biggest hurdle is going to be the downpipe location, there's a couple differnt ones and will probably have to make 2 kinds of y pipes.

EGR and o2 mounting will be there, but again different vehicles may need some modification (or o2 wire extensions etc). I'm trying to make 1 set of headers to fit most vehicles.

Longtubes are out unless there are a few orders and I have a vehicle to test and fabricate on. There's no way they will work between body styles.

Gen 2 and Gen 3 use the same bolt spacing.. so if the headers fit a 3400 they should fit a 3.1. I'd double check clearances just to make sure though...

Isn't there was a difference in the shape of the exhaust ports?

3x00's are D shaped but you can use either style gasket on a gen2 head.. but only gen3 gaskets on a gen3 head.

the Gen2 gaskets overlap the bottom corners of the D very slightly.

I had Gen2 exhaust manifolds on my old 3400, it ran just fine.
