Hey guys looking for some advice again. Its one thing after another with this car. My car started pissing out coolant today. Noticed a puddle underneath it before I was about to leave work so I pulled it in and threw it on the lift hoping it was something easy like a loose hose or waterpump gasket but its not. It looks like its coming from the block, right next to the belt tension is, near the top of the rear motor mount bracket. Theres coolant passages inside the timing cover right? I searched on here and it seems like its probably the timing cover gasket or a freeze plug as i read that there is one in this area. Have to remove the rear motor mount bracket and maybe the tensioner to get a better look. Its in a hell of a spot and getting the rear motor mount bracket off looks like its going to be a big pain in the ass. Might attempt it tomorrow as i have access to a lift at work.

Any ideas? even if I could just get it slowed down for the time being. I might get a local guy to fix it for me as he did my clutch job a few months ago and he is familar with the cars. id like to find the exact source of the leak first though. im so sick of having to work on this car lol. I work for a rental company so Im going to see if i can possibly use one of the rental cars til this problem gets fixed

It might be the LIM gasket.

Could be the timing chain cover gasket or the water pump, or just the water pump gasket. They're all up in the area. You'll need to follow the trail up that side of the engine and see what it's most likely coming from.

I had it all apart a couple days ago. Still couldnt find the exact spot. There was another bracket behind the alternator bracket thats held on with 2 studs to the head it looks like. Between that bracket and half way up the timing cover it seems to be coming out but you cant get a good enough look to see if its coming from above that or not. It's actually coming down from higher up than the red circle is in the pics. The parts are cheap so ive went and ordered all the timing gaskets and seals, headgaskets, and all the intake gaskets and ill be getting a guy i know to figure it out and fix it for me lol. Too involved for my liking and I don't have my own garage and i need the car mon-friday to get to work. It's not coming from the water pump though, thats one thing i did verify. Waterpump and gasket is only a few years old.

It seemed to stop leaking the other day, until i filled the coolant reservoir up again. But i know the whole system isnt empty, as it only took about 2 liters to fill up the reservoir and the cooling system takes like 14 quarts. Maybe that narrows it down to certain areas that could or could not be leaking. I dont know enough about it myself.

Okay so I filled the reservoir again yesterday and the car doesnt seem to be leaking now, unless its just leaking a tiny amount but not enough to drip on the ground. Wtf???? This scares me cause i dont know how hard it will be for my buddy to track down the leak now and if I go any far distance it might randomly start pissing coolant out again. Also my trans has seemed to start dripping oil again after I had fixed a leak a couple of months ago and it stayed bone dry until now! Oh man the joys of owning old cars......
