I wanted to get some HP numbers for our piston GP. Wiseco was wondering what kind of power these pistons will need to endure, and I considered that a good excuse to take it to a local dyno shop (Xotic Motorsports of Cochranville PA). I've never been huge into dyno numbers, even at the wheels, because they really don't prove anything (high numbers don't really mean the car is actually fast and/or fun). I think the drag strip is really where things get proven, but thats more opinion than fact.
It put 328.8HP and 352.7Tq to the front wheels. The HP peaked at the very end of the pull, 5300rpm (it was still climbing a little, but you could tell it was about done). The torque peaked very flat, the peak was between 4300 and 4800rpm.
I'll have a video later this evening. _________________

Very nice! Very impressive numbers.
But the dyno is just really to give you hp at the wheels and to tune ur car with air and fuel ratio.
Anyways... could you take that engine and put it in my cavy? Its rdy for a drop |

Yeah and how did you get your car tuned so well? This gives me another reason to emulate your set-up in the future (something I was thinking about anyway). Speaking of which, did you ever put on that intercooler? _________________

Thanks all. Here is a pretty sweet vid link (6.5MB):
http://www.khturbo.net/rmtz24/Z24DynoMovie.wmv
The boost was set at 10psi for those numbers. I did my first run without the alky injection, and started to go lean on the top end. The next run I told the dyno operator to spray the alky. As soon as he got out of the car after the second run and looked at his computer, he said "We're going to use the alky for the rest of the runs!." I picked up 20hp at the peak and stayed much safer on the AFR (mid 10's to redline!). I am pig rich right as the boost comes in, but things get inline very quickly. I don't care what Corky Bell thinks of alky injection, but it flat out works. An extra 20hp at the peaks and safer AFR's with a homemade $150 contraption is awesome IMO. And the denatured alcohol/water mixture is cheap at around $6 gallon (depending on how much water you add). The alky also appeared to get the turbo up to speed faster, and at the lower end on the power band (about 3500-4000rpm) the alky spray was worth as much as 32 extra HP and 30lb/ft of torque. _________________
