Would ACCEL 15 lb injectors with 14.4 Ohms work on my Z? It is already chipped, but it broke down again and Im pretty sure its the injectors AGAIN!!! Do I have to reprogram my chip or does anybody know where to get a set of six new injectors? These refurbished ones failed me!

Those are actually smaller than your stock ones but they'd work ok.

Pretty pricey though, I'd think somebody on here would probably have an extra set of stock ones sitting around that are good for way cheaper.. Heck, i may even have a set.

What is the car doing? Have you checked the injectors with a multimeter?

No but it was at a specialist last time this happened he said one of the injectors was going over spec ohms and told me which bank it was. I replaced three of them but it is doing it again. Tried replacing fuel filter, switching fuel pump relay tested fuel pressure. It will start then die within 15 seconds or it will die immediately when I hit the gas. Can u tell me what the specs are for the stock injectors?

If an injector is going above the spec ohms usually it'll just not fire at all (it'll just sound like a missfire), if below it gets lazy and causes bad gas mileage (lopey idle).. if it's really bad it could blow the ECM fuse.

Your current problem doesn't sound like the injectors are at fault.

it sounds more like the MAP sensor but a quick check with a multimeter would let you know what's going on with the injectors. Much better than shelling out a few hundred bucks if they're still ok.

What was the fuel pressure? What are the trouble codes?

Stock injectors are 16lb/hr IIRC but you can find out for sure by crossing the part number, it should match up here: http://www.witchhunter.com/injectordata1.php4

No codes and fuel pressure is 45 lbs when engine primed

You remove the upper intake manifold from the car.

It isn't as daunting as you may think the only precautions should be if it has not been removed in a long time the gaskets could be past it.

I paid $8 for new upper intake plenum gasket set of two, your parts store will try to tell you they come with a full gasket kit and to buy the full kit for $25 which you could do and wait for it to show up since they won;t have them in stock or you can go to NAPA auto where they actually have the singular gaskets.

The EGR gasket is $3 at NAPA also. You do not need gasket sealant either. You just put them on and tighten everything down.

I see you have the 3.1 liter in your profile registry. I have the 2.8.

here is what it looks like under there .... the fuel injector metal spring clips are very easy to spring loose and the electric connector comes right off rather easily. The injector will have two prongs to put both tester leads on with a digital multimeter set to ohms.

This will be good to learn anyway since your car probably needs throttle body and upper intake plenum cleaning anyway while you are in there, you need to do this to get to the fuel pressure regulator when that ultimately fails as a part etc etc etc. so follow the directions in our how-to which show how to remove the upper intake plenum. http://www.v6z24.com/howto/plenum

This can be done with basic tools and sockets.

No need to pull the plenum just for the initial test.

you can test each bank by finding and separating the injector harness plug on the back side of the plenum. There is 4 wires that you need to look for, 2 are pink with a black stripe, one is green and one is blue.

Check the resistance across the pink and green, and the pink and blue. You have a 50/50 shot on which pink goes to which bank but one pair will give a reading and one won't.

Each bank should be around 4 ohms (3 12 ohm injectors in parallel).

I didn't know that then again there is a ton I don't know. Nice to learn something new. I am going to remember that .... do you have a life or do you live under the hood??? lol.

The all knowing all telling all seeing SuperDave!! A lot of the stuff you say in here I save the post comment as text in a file. A V6Z24 file for future reference for when my car gets angry with me and decides to run like crappola. This stuff is very helpful, thanks for making that post.

that makes no sense. how can you test the resistance of an injector while its in use? an ohm meter sends out a tiny amount of voltage on the positive lead and looks for the amount of return to measure resistance. if the injector is in operation there would be "other" voltage on those wires renduring any readings useless. i think you need a new mechanic.
if you end up needing some injectors let me know. i have a set of six good ones ill sell for $20.
