Tunercat (www.tunercat.com) tuner supports the turbo ECM, you can modify max boost, cutoff's everything. |

or tunerpro. I know that it was very simple with GMPCM, as they even provided a pre-patched version of the TGP PROM that was converted to 5spd with the boot limits removed, but the site has since gone down and I no longer have access to these files. Im learning new software all over again _________________

there is schematics and parts lists mentioned. Basically if you dont know how to read a diagram I recommend purchasing a pre-built one from one of the links to sites that sells them, that I mentioned. |
No no no... my bad. Not the ALDL adapter. The one for the MEMCAL, that you put on the burner. |
it just relocates the pins, because the pins in the memcal are closer together than the pins in the programmer. _________________

Just a word of advice for anyone building this circuit:
Don't use the 7805 regulator, just use the power from the serial plug on the computer, short pins 7 and 8 on the serial plug (RTS & CTS) and give the MAX232 power directly from that.
The fastest way to test the interface is to use Hyperterminal.
Start > Programs > Accessories > Communications > Hyperterminal
Start a new session on COM1 with a baud rate of 300 (make sure your ALDL circuit is connected before you hit OK). type anything you want in the text window, if nothing shows up then you have a problem, if everything shows up then your ALDL is functioning propperly.
Here is an adjusted schematic of what i was talking about...

well the 90 and older use a cable speedo, so it wont affect that, however the ECM take a digital reading of of the speedo to determine idle & speed limiter. Im still waiting for a guy to get me some radings, but I believe you can just use the speedo calibrations from a 91 to use with the 88-90 trans. _________________

so would any 88-90 .bin work?
example i swap in a 3100 plus a turbo
but dont use the 91-up .bin file to start with say i use a 89-90 gtp file. i know other people have used them and tweaked them, but do they still read the trans the same as 88-90 j-body would? id think so? _________________

the TGP file you are refering to is an 8F file, not the A1 used for the NA V6's. Also, the TGP file was only ever available with an auto, and uses a different speed sensor so it wouldnt give accurate readings anyways.
The only way to get an accurate calibration is for someone with an 88-90 to use a 91-94 A1 file, and datalog the car while driving, as well as record the speedo readings and then compare them. _________________

I'm running into a bit of a snag with my setup. My laptop doesn't have a 9-pin serial port. So I go looking and I find this adapter.
So now what I am wondering is will this RS 232 Serial interface (Standard 9-pin) work correctly? Is it the same standard? _________________

Serial to USB adapters don't work for this application. I bought a $50 one and it's just collecting dust.
also..
