What color wire did you splice into for the VSS? Did you do it at the sensor or the ECM?

I got mine working today, its from a 2000 jimmy. I used mitchell for my wiring and it kept saying that it has an external compass sensor, so I went back to the JY ripped out the headliner to see nothing. The unit works fine, i just find it that it doesnt folow the contour of the headliner and its too close to my mirror. At first I was going to get the rear view mirror with temp/compass w/ on star lol (fake nitrous button) from an 2003 GM.

Any way to make the MPG readout from the newer consoles work? How is that data received?

no. There are complex algorithms that are used to compute those readouts, and our computers don't compute that data or have the capability to. And if they did, it wouldn't be able to communicate with the overhead due to not being a ODBII /Can bus system.

Hahaha before I got to page 2 I was going to suggest a 2nd sensor with a switch to report intake temps!! But you already had that idea. And x2 on the interior temp sensor as well!

Yeah, I figured the lack of OBDII would be the answer.

I wrote a script to run on my laptop that analyzes the output from tunerpro in real-time while driving & it will show instantaneous & average MPG bases off of the injector flow rate, pulse width, temperature, RPM & speed.

But it requires an ALDL cable, a laptop, tuner/scannerpro, apache & php... and it is far from complete. Haven't messed with it for quite a while.

Was planning to do some tests with it to check MPG at different highway speeds, to see how much better 55 mph really is than 85 mph
