Anyone use Mobil 1 full synthetic in their V6?
If so, how many miles to you go between oil changes?
I used to use it in my Trans Am a long time ago (when I would drive it) and changed oil every 5,500-6,000 miles or so. I was reading where 15,000 miles is considered perfectly acceptable. Not sure I want to stretch it that far, but maybe 6,000 is changing a bit prematurely
Also, as a side note, some of you may get a kick out of the Mobil 1 race game.

I don't drive my Z daily, but I run Mobil 1 synthetic in my Z. I just change it once in the spring and run it all season long, which is usually around 3,000-3,500 miles or so. I would say 5,000 is probably what I would change mine at if I were to put that many miles on it in a year. Even though it may not break down, it would still get plenty dirty by then, especially if you live out in the country like me. _________________

I'm running it in my car now. I put in 5W30 when I did my timing set. 2,200 miles or so. Not at all dirty, but I used Seafoam in the last oil before changing the set.
I'll go along with you on that about it getting dirty. If it stays clean, I'll go to around 6,000 to 7,000 though. Having used it for a long time in the T/A, I feel safe at that. That car never lost a pound of oil pressure in all the year I drove it. That is one reason I went Mobil 1 in the Z24, I trust it, but never went a ton of miles between changes. Hell, it don't cost all that much to change every few months anyway.
Thanks for the input. I'd still like to know if anyone has gone 10,000 or more and how their oil looked and how well did the oil pressure hold up over the life of the car. I'm just curious really |

That is usually all I run. 5qts with a filter is $32.00 at autozone. I always change mine every 3,000 miles or every month. What ever comes first. My car is not driven lightly in most cases. My daily driver is around 5,000 2.4l twin cam. I have already had it go 8,000 before and change and didn't notice much difference. Engine was slightly more noisy but the oil was still decent. Twin cams are very noisy to begin with though. So oil is rated at 10,000 miles in full synthetic. I run 10w 30. Synthetic is usually thinner for some reason and 5w30 made a lot of noise and didn't have as much pressure. _________________

I may add another dose of Seafoam to this oil and then change it in a week to 10w30. Thanks for mentioning the weight used and reason |

Yeah i forgot to mention that I use 10W-30 in mine as well. In my opinion, 5W-30 is just too thin of an oil to use with my application. _________________
