ok I have all new gaskets for my 3400 and got the metal LIM gasket

also have a brand new steering rack

installing LS6 springs FINALLY along with it. sandblasting the valves, lapping the valves, painting the heads ect

this should be done this weekend then selling my laptop and getting new snail

got it tore down and found a bad exhaust valve. any idea what happened? the pistons looked fine

did you change anything on the upper side of the head ?

could be that ... that one may have a bit more travel than the others and hit the piston...even ever so gently could in time cause a problem.

it was completely stock top end

I took off the rear head and everything looks fine. those pistons look fine too

maybe it was just a freak accident?

from the looks of it scott, the middle cylinders are running leaner than the rest. it may have had some detonation on that cylinder causing the head of the valve to break apart like that. if you keep youre existing turbo, check the turbine for damage. im sure you already know that tho good luck, im already looking forward to returning home to see everyones new mods and i havent even left yet

yah, ive been running E85 in it the past year and it was on regular gas prior to that.

never tore the engine down until now. if you look at #4 piston you can see its completely clean

I bet if I hadnt tore it down and kept running the E85 it would be spotless eventually

doest that clean cylinder have any marks on the piston from possible detonation?
