So i had this Ractive strut tower bar for a 1992 z24 that my buddy gave me, since i have a 1990 and there was nothing wrong with the factory bar i decided to make a rear shock tower bar out of it.

Since i blew out my rear shock mounts(metal bushings totally seperated from the rubber mounts) i had to take them out anyway to replace, so i took some measurements to make up some brackets to adapt the ractive bar.

I cut off the rings, meant for the front struts, and welded up some 1/4" brackets to form a thick U around the crown part of the mount. Drilled a hole on each side and voila.

The nice thing about the bar is that its adjustable and can be removed easily if i ever needed to put anything big in the trunk.

Surprisingly my butt dyno felt a difference. who knows though it might not have been calibrated

Heres some pics of the Brace.

ractive has made them for a while. But despite them saying 92+ they raelly only fit the 94's cuz the master on the 92-93 is slighty different and it hots on them.

none-the-less, looks good.

Couldn't it also be that you have new shocks in the back, and that's why your butt dyno says gains?

I still have the same GR2 shocks in the back. just replaced the mounts that were 16 years old the car handled good before i had the mount problem, but it handles much better now. so its probly a combination of new mounts + brace makes a nice improvement.

They don't fit 94s correctly either because all the ABS MCs are the same. I had to bolt the cross piece behind the end pieces to make it fit.

wow that must help a ton.. considering that is on the shocks, and the shocks carry none of the side to side motion of the car. Whoo !!

I've had that bar for over 8 years. Just place on top of strut towers, I used gear marking compound to mark the location for the holes and then I drilled them out and installed it. Simple

Still, anything you can do to stiffen a unibody, the better. Therefor "shock" tower braces are still

I bought the ractive one and offset the mounts to make them clear the master:

And I made my rear one from civic endplates & a 95+ J bar
