Well, the title says it all. I am so depressed right now that I have 3 j-bodys and don't really have the time or interest to do anything with them anymore. Part of the reason is that the roads by my house are either an oil slick or torn up to the point of being dirt paths. Also, I got my bachelor's degree last semester and I still have yet to find a job where I can use it. This sucks. On top of that, I still live at home and have to hear my parents bitch at one another constantly. I am going to be 26 on Thursday, and I don't even feel like celebrating. Anyways, I am most concerned about what the hell I am going to do with these cars. I wish I could just get them all out of my sight but I don't really want to sell them for nothing. I have spent way too much money now. _________________

My parents were the same way till they heard my car after I was done. They liked it and never complained again. I have a 1989 z24, 2000 z24 and a 1987 fiero gt. I had a 91 cavalier rs I scrapped that I could never get running after replacing just about everything. I gave my 91 sunbird vert to my mother lol. If you have to get rid of one I would get rid of the 1990 coupe. They should not complain about you have two cars. Need one in case one breaks. Just be glad you don't owe any money on them. _________________

that sucks, life though. If you need to get one of the cavs gone, let me know. I'm in the market(though I wanted to wait abit) for one lol. It'd definitely have a nice home.
Things well improve. For awhile I was in a rut and thought it would never get better but sure enough they are improving. Sadly I had to give up my favorite car ever but you have to make sacrifices sometimes. _________________

Are you crazy?! 1990 coupe? He just got that car. That car is a show car. If he does get rid of the car, I hope it doesn't go to someone that isn't going to take care of it.
Zach, you were talking about getting rid of the 1990 Z24 awhile back. I'd say put both Cavs in storage where your parents can bitch at you about the cars taking up space. Don't forget about paying for the storage! Get a steady job with your degree, save up some money and move out into a place with a 2 car garage.
I know man, I've been there before. I still lived at home with my RS and 88 S10, and just inherited a 1992 VL and lost my job. Dad bitching at me expecting me to give him the car, and to teach him how to drive a stick, when he never gave me much of anything in life. "WTF! You're 50 years old, and you're asking your 22 year old (at the time) son to teach you how to drive a stick?" That guy has a lot of growing up to do, wasn't much of a father, and knows alot about nothing. Longer story of my f*cked up life at home that's too long to post. Not too long after losing my job, I sold the VL to an old friend of mine who ended up junking it when it was a good running car. I would have bought that car back. _________________

Yeah it does suck. It is just time to move on. I bought Ryan's car on a whim, thinking that by doing so it would get me out of this depression and give me something to do. However, it is just not what I was expecting. It is too nice to drive, and I am afraid of making it worse. The truth is they both need to go to a good home, but far out of my sight in case they do get torn all to hell. Live and learn I guess. _________________

All I can say being a little long in the tooth is that .... don't do anything you will regret later.
If you have to get rid of the cars do so but if you don't make sure this is what you want.
I am looking for a vintage white 1980 Gibson SG guitar like the one I sold in the late 80s. I regret it now horribly still after all these years and now it will cost $2,000 to $4,000 to get it back again when I paid just $400 for it in 1984.
The point being make sure is all I am saying that you will be able to live without them/it.
Also as a side note both my parents are dead and I can tell you that most squabbles or inconveniences are pretty petty in the grand scheme of things so don't take it too seriously. They will be dead someday and you WILL be left with these memories so tread lightly as you will feel like an a-hole for the things you do now.
I buried my father this past February and these things have a profound impact on your life and how you wish to live it. _________________

I suggest that you stop wallowing in your self doubt and pity and while you're at it... stop making all these excuses not to do anything... and I mean right the fuck now.
You are your own worse enemy with that crap man.
That job you want isn't going just fall in your lap you know. You really gotta put in the effort to get that job... getting the degree is only half of it.
In fact you do have a job right now... that job is to take the next step to achieving your ultimate goal.
I suggest that you keep the most practical car of the two and rid yourself of the other.
I further suggest that you consider moving to a climate and area more in tune with who you are and what you seek.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I'd say good luck... but it has nothing to do with luck and everything to do with your drive and desire. _________________

Well it's not like I haven't applied for anything and sent my resume to like a dozen or more employers in the last few months. The truth is, the job market sucks, period. Also, no one is willing to give new graduates a chance at anything these days, thanks in part to the attitudes that most new graduates have these days. So why I do see your point, it's not like I haven't been trying.
As far as the vehicles are concerned, I am not just going to sell them for bottom dollar to get them out of my face. These are nice clean cars. _________________

What is your degree in? Is there something you can do with it that would be unpaid? Externship/Volunteer?
I ask because I know some people who got degrees and the market wouldn't open to them unless they had "experience". A buddy had to basically work 8 weeks as a "volunteer" before the organization was like, oh look, experience!
Also, as someone who graduated college last year and continued his part time job/self employment.....3 cars at this point in your life is a lot to hang over your head. I just picked up that 91z with 3,000 miles and I spent most of what I had on it, wheels, and suspension upgrades. I'm kicking myself now, because it is a major PIA and blow to the wallet to keep 3 cars running, never mind finding time to upkeep and drive them! _________________

You don't even acknowledge that you need to "get the fuck out of Dodge" if you catch my drift. But you do, and you can if you really put your mind to it.
Good to hear that you are putting some effort toward your career... but you need a job right now... so go get a job any job, just something that will pull a paycheck through the door... and keep on shooting resumes and applications toward your career.
And the volunteer/ externship(?) idea is a damn good one... get the experience needed on your dime, future employers see it as an excellent quality in a possible employee... someone willing to go above and beyond.
The cars... first thing you need to realize... you will not ever get the money you invested back, period. Time to get that thought out of your head... these cars are not collectors items or classics. They are a losing proposition, it is that simple.
With that thought in mind it is best to sell the one that will have the best potential of getting a 90% return... and that is clearly the 1990.
Reality check... you don't have gainful employment yet and your living situation is not favorable to your stated needs yet... guess what, you don't have the means to keep two cars.
It's so simple it hurts... sell the 90 for the best buck you can... look at putting yourself into an area that will be conducive to better employment opportunities, in other words move to a different county or even a different state.
And stop with the excuses already... look at it from this point of view, you wanted the 90 so bad you found a way to get it... well take that same attitude and apply it to the really important things in your life and just watch what you will achieve.

As I am writing this, I just got turned down for a non-registered lab job at a hospital. My degree is in Biology. I guess I failed to mention that I do have a full-time job right now as a teller in my hometown, but it is sub-par at best. Yeah, it's a job, and I am glad that I have one, but it is not what I want to do the rest of my life. Yeah, I am not going to make anymore excuses because I know that I have been trying. As far as the volunteer/internship thing, I did one while in college at a state fish and wildlife area, and that has been no help whatsoever. I guess I am going to just have to move to a bigger area and start looking there. _________________

My gf has a bachelors in Bio. She's a CNA right now working towards a RN.
With a BS in Bio, you should be looking for EPA type work, fish and game shit. You need a MA or PHD to do anything else really. _________________

Apply for jobs all over the country. Take a good job sell all your stuff except for one reliable car and get the hell out of your parents house.....
A dozen or more employers in a few months? I'm thinking more than a dozen a day if you want to put yourself out there. My wife is taking environmental sciences in grad school and it's insane that a lot of people in her class are applying for jobs all over the world and they are getting them- Florida, Alaska, Oregon, Brazil, Thailand, etc. You've got nothing to lose! _________________

Yeah I need to get more motivated than I am I suppose. I just don't really know exactly what direction I want to go. It's either lab work, ecology and environmental work, or parks and recreational work that I am looking at right now. I think I want to be outdoors and moving around.
As for the car thing, I probably shouldn't even worry about it now. The money is already spent, and no one will want to pay what I want. So why should I bother selling. _________________
