Anyone know what the 3x00 starter weighs?
I weighed my stock 2.2 starter , its 12lbs. I believe the high torque 3x00 starter is like 4-5lbs. Id weigh mine, but I dont feel like taking it out right now, just to weigh it

and another thing. Has anyone ever seen the VFN liftoff trunklid? Im wondering if it at least has a license plate tub. I realize it wouldnt have lights, rather they would be molded in. Really its just plate lights and reverse lights to worry about. That could be solved pretty simply.
Apparently its only 4lbs. Im guessing the stock lid must be at least 40 with lights. Ill be measuring one tonight probably.

I weighed a 93 sunbird trunklid tonight, with latch and NO tail lights and no spoiler. It weighs 33lbs
Im guessing the tails and bird filler or cavy plate bucket are a few more pounds, 2-5 prob?

No pics of the lid. I called today and its basically a complete mold of the entire trunk lid/lights/ etc. Also its just a shell, so it doesnt seal to the car. However, I think it could be modified easily to seal. Its only 156 bux.
Most likely Im going to order one on monday/tues. Apparently the current lead time is 5-6 weeks. ugh.
Anyway, Ill update this when I order it etc.

| I just went to their website, those doors would be sweet. 12 lb over the stock 83 lb, thats 140 lb we could save (that would make up the weight for a cage). Obviously wouldn't be for a daily driver on account of safety though. I wonder if they would mount up the same, if the window could be made to function and if the door skins would look good with the diza kit (assuming from what pictures they do have they are phI skins)? |

I doubt they could be made to have windows in them. Or if they could it would be ALOT of work. And ya, you would definitely need a cage. A cage with door bars probalby weigh around 100lbs with door bars.
They arent cheap tho, at like 600 something dollars. I believe they are meant to open and close like regular doors.

| I agree, it would be a pita to try to make them function as stock doors do. Maybe a quick way to remove and install the lexan windows. I saw the price, yes very expensive. |

93 Z24 rear bumper assy complete, including the support, shock things, cover and any supporting plastic pieces. = 50lbs
support and shocks = 30lbs
shocks = 4-5lbs each
I think with some creative aluminum support and "shocks" the support can come down to around 7lbs
Probably drilling some holes in the supporting plastic pieces could net another 1/2 to 1lb.
EDIT: I drilled a pile of 3" and 2" holes in the side supporting pieces and the top supporting plastic pieces. It moves my bathroom scale about 1lb, which doesnt count the shavings etc from the hole saw. So I probably really did remove a full pound of plastic. I think i need a scale with a 20 or 30lb range for this little stuff.

I picked up my new rear "bumper support" today. A 48" long piece of 3" OD, 1/8" wall aluminum tubing for $26. It weighs 5lbs. After I weld the struts and some brackets to hold the cover on etc, it should be about 7 or 8lbs I think.
More to come on that.

If I was going to do it again, I would use 2.25" or maybee 2" tubing instead of hte 3". I had to notch a bit of it at each end to match the curve of the bumper.... oh well. Its in there, it holds up the bumper still, and its light. It prob wont do much at all in a rear end collision, but whatever. Its light

Nice. I didn't realize the plastic bracket deal at the top was that big. I must be using the VL one, mines about half that size IIRC. I'll have to look later. _________________
