FF: I want one for the 3500. What is your email for me to send the paypal to?
My engine is still prettier (and more powerful!) Isaac!

FF: ah ok I was right. Good thing we changed them from the prototype.
Yeah 2 vacuum ports and one filtered air port. You could use the 2 for FPR and vacuum ball ports when using a 3500 plenum. On mine I'm using the 3500 plenum port by the alt for my cruise (like it was stock on the 3100), the evap port with a T for FPR/Trans&vacuum ball line. I could get rid of the T on that and use one from the TB. Either way I will use one of the vacuum ports on the TB for a vacuum gauge.
The fresh air port you could use to run to the rear valve cover breather if you have a custom CAI and don't feel like putting a grommet in that. Otherwise just cap it.
Fallen: Eh, yours is just more colorful!! I have more miles on mine than yours too! hah!

I think it only has 2 vacuum connections on it, and the 3rd larger one is just fresh air... But I could be wrong...
I don't have mine yet. Is the large one vacuum or is it fresh air? Also what does that big square opening go to on the back? Vacuum or fresh air side? |
The big square opening on the back of the TB goes to a port in the front of the plate. Just like the 75mm N* TB's have.
I forgot to look today if there were more for the 3400, I only went to the shop for a short time on the holiday.
Also, did someone else get the wrong allen bolts to match their manifold? |
Mine were the correct bolts. I had a little bit of clearance issues on the lower bolt but a little bit of coaxing and it's on the car.
I did notice one small issue. The 3.5 DOHC bracket has a different clip setup for the throttle cable than the 3x00 does. It has the spread clips (similar to the way the throttle cables clip to the firewall) instead of the slide/lock setup. I haven't tried my 3x00 bracket yet but I know I'll need to clearance it to make it fit properly.

FF, I want one for a 3500 plenum. Gonna cost me any extra to ship to Canada?
Do you have any left?

I don't know, since I don't have the engine yet. What size are they supposed to be? |
The 3400 flanges came with two 8mmx1.75 socket cap srews and three 6mmx1.0 bolts, the 3500 flanges came with four 6mmx1.0 cap screws (allen heads) and the same three 6mmx1.0 bolts to hold the TB. Someone got the wrong set of bolts, not a big deal they are available from Lowe's or Ace, but I was thinking maybe I mixed up two packages when I was writing the addy on them.

I'm waiting on a new gasket for my 65mm TB. I'm probably going to cut a small section out of the Aurora bracket and weld it back together to accomodate the shorter throttle cable.

Ah, so the distance from the cable bracket to the shoe horn is longer than the 3x00 cable too?
Damn gonna probably take longer than 1 weekend to get this on my car with my resources I have here..

Yes, I modded the cable to fit into the bracket but it holds the butterfly open just slightly.
I'll try to get better pics when I get my other camera back.

Hmm I wonder if some BFH would re adjust that bracket some... If not I wonder where the best part to cut then bend it would be. I could drill and bolt possibly to reconnect the bracket since I don't own a welder.
EDIT: Does the TB open all the way with the pedal to the floor? I wonder if it requires longer pedal travel??

As far as I could tell, pedal travel wouldn't be an issue, it felt like only 3/4 throttle before it hit the back of the plate. It's just that the bracket distance was a little too far.
I didn't really do a full-out test since I needed to put the old 3400 TB back on so I could do some test driving before the bash. When I get back, I plan on swapping it over and making any necessary adjustments to get it to work.

anyway to make the cover on the cable shorter? look in this picture, see how it has the raised edge to the right before the tb? does this seperate from the outside? if so you could seperate it, then cut a small part of the outside off and slide the raised edge down so you have the cable travel?
