So i wanted to get rid of the ugly flat top shifter, so i went and bought a nice carbon fiber and chrome ball style shifter to swap with. well i went and took off the old shifter. and boom its a friggen flat bar shifter instead of the round shifter bar i am used to seeing. anyone have an easy way of changing this or making the shifter fit? I dont have access to a welder so this may be difficult as i was going to chop it and weld a small piece of pipe or bolt to it. buttttttt i cannot find anyone that has a welder any more and i dont want to pay some one to customize it for me.... ..... any suggestions would be great.. _________________

my shifter is the flat bar and aftermarket round shift knobs still fit on it fine... mine was alittle loose though so i wrapped a layer or 2 of electrical tape around the flat shifter and now its really snug and doesnt budge _________________

well my aftermarket shift knob wont even fit over the bar... i am going to go out and grind it down a little bit and then do the tape thing and see if it will fit then... _________________

| go to your local jy and get a shifter from a 88-91 grand am or a 89-91 sunbird. Those shifters will go right in our cars and have a little shorter throw. Also they have a round shaft so your aftermarket handle will work. |
