I recently have been having electrical issues with the car. i.e. ABS light comes on sometimes, car dies, etc. I noticed that the negative battery terminal post doesn't tighten all the way like it should. I have those gold aftermarket terminals and they will tighten great by themselves, but once I put the gold piece in the stock rubber boot it will tighten and then at a certain point of tightening it comes loose again. its kinda hard to explain. I think my problem is a bad ground connection because the terminal wont tighten completely. not really sure what to do, any ideas as to what is causing it to come loose after screwing it in a certain amount?
thanks |

| you probably stripped the threads in the battery, or there is not enough of the bolt thread to tighten down. |

| yes i believe the battery threads might be stripped. it is an optima red top battery. is there a way to re-tap the hole in the battery? if not, is there any way to use the top posts on the battery instead of the GM screw holes? |

If it has top post terminals just go buy some new battery cables. Take the old ones off and take them to the store and say you need some cables about yea long or so.. LOL Probably not a bad idea anyways if you haven't replaced the wires in awhile (or ever) _________________

The ground usually has a pigtail to it. It's all very simple to do. The ground will be bolted to your frame. Just follow it and unbolt it. Clean off the area real good before you put the new ground on. All in all it shouldn't take you more than just a couple of minutes to do the ground cable there. _________________
