ok so i got alot of the things for my 5 spd swap onto my 4 cylinder
i have the shift stick, linkage, both cables and hardware, center console plastic, clutch pedal and fluid resivoir/hoses, brake pedal and the manual ECM...but....
i'm not sure if the 4 cyl swap is the same as the 6 cyl....
so will i need the passenger side axle from a 5 spd? and the braces/frame from the pass side?
and the tranny mount for the 5spd is different than the auto one.....at least on the 4 cyl...it has a bracket around it that the clutch fluid hose bolts onto then it goes to a knob that is hooked in the tranny......the 5spd in the jy i yanked the parts from had this and it was in one piece....should i grab it and use it? or is that bracket and tranny mount all one piece?
should i buy these parts new or would a JY pass side axle and brace/frame be sufficient?
i still need to get an isuzu tranny....so if anybody has one with less than 50k thatd be great
thats all i can think of now....if anybody who's done the 5spd swap has any advice or tips .....thanks

You don't need to swap the subframe. I have no clue why thats in the How-To.

The axles from a 4cyl auto to a 5spd auto are extremely different. You need them both (the Isuzu doesn't use an intermediate shaft, its one long axle)

The mounts are all the same between auto and 5 spd, its the mount brackets that are different. You'll need the mount to block brackets for all three, and the mount to body bracket for the rear mount.

So...axles and mount brackets are all you need now, as well as the trans itself

Just grab the axles off the donor car. They're most likely fine unless the CV boots are torn or loose, even then I'd check the joints to see if they're fairly clean and well greased. You can get replacement boots if needed.

Like James said, grab both the engine bracket and body bracket. If the mounts are good, take those as well.

alright i'll get them next time i'm around then.....
how hard are the axles to get out?
cause the car is sittin completely on the ground with no tires....
the brackets i've already checked out and there's just a few bolts holding them on but the axles might be tricky....
but i did find a place where i can get oem replacement axles for any year sunbird for 60 a piece....

It can depend. Usually if you're lucky you can give them a good pull and they'll pop out without much fuss. Otherwise, bring a prybar and be ready to "persuade" them out.

If its sitting on the spindles, be prepared for a PITA time. You'll need to move the spindles out of the way to get them out. Bring a 30mm socket for the axle nuts, and you can undo the strut mounts from the towers rather than undoing the spindle from the strut. But, like I said, moving the spindles is going to be hard if they're on the ground.

EDIT- I didn't realize this was a 2.0OHC trans. I thought you were doing a 2.2 Isuzu swap. I'm not sure what, if any, difference there is in axles between auto and manual on those. I don't have a parts interchange for the Birds, just Cavs.

Yeah, I missed the part about it sitting on the spindles. You'll probably need a jack and a 2x4 to lift the front of the car enough to get them off the ground to maneuver them around as needed. A good floor jack and 2x4 under the rad support should work well enough to get it.

A quick Car-part.com search shows at least 10 places with trannys that have less than 30k miles, for less than $500. Even with shipping from the place to you, thats still less than $700. Theres even one with 4k miles for only $200.
