I've searched for everything that I know of, haven't came up with anything.
Could someone tell me if it's possible to drop a 3400 into a 2000 Cavalier? or at least point me in the right direction if it is possible? |

| I'm torn between what I want to do. My Cavalier has the 2.2 engine with an auto transmission, I at least want to swap a 5-speed in, but my biggest problem, I'm torn between dropping the 3400 in, or dropping in an Eco if it's possible. So, I don't know what transmission will bolt up to the Eco, I think I'd read somewhere that the tranny from a 2.4 will bolt to the Eco, and that a 2.2 tranny will bolt to the 3400, but I'm not sure. |

| So...if I want to do an Eco swap...I have to find an Eco tranny, or is there another tranny that will bolt to the Eco? |

| with an eco swap you pretty much gotta change everything over, cept for a few items since yours is a 2000 and not a 95 -99. best to get a donor car and swap what all needs to be swapped over. been done many times on jbo.org. jsut have to go and search. not really that hard of a swap if you wanted to keep it auto, but to instal a 5 spd requires a different trans mount and some grinding and welding. pretty much have to use a eco tranny, they use a different bolt pattern formt he other motors. |

Heres the How-To for a 2200-ECO swap-
| Quote: | Since Ive done this swap but from a 97 2.2 ohv. here is what you will need for a 00+
*Transmission
*Engine (obviously)
*Engine Harness
*ECU or reflash if it is possible
*Ecotec Upper Motor Mount
*Ecotec Radiator (my old 97 2.2 radiator was not as thick as this one)
*Radiator Hoses
(should be able to keep current BCM module)
Axles should work for the different trans if it is an auto (havent experimented with 5 speed yet)
You 00+ guys have it easier to do the swap considering you dont have to swap out the fuel system. Otherwise you can do what I did and replace everything if its 95-99. Suncavi got his running with the old fuel tank setup for pre 00 but his gas gauge isnt reading it properly. Thats why I opted to swap my 97 to the 00+ gas tanks and put the 00+ wiring in my car. Ran good till I put a hole in the block
Any more questions feel free to email me at streetrcn22@aol.com Im not on here too often so you would have a better chance catching me on AOL. |
