Just a formal announcement that I will be entering my Z24 in HOT ROD Drag Week '08. I'll add updates here if I can get an internet connection. The last year or two had a weak competition for the Quickest 6 Cylinder, so maybe I can win a plaque for that. Wish me luck!

When did they add a 6 cylinder class?

I only knew of two classes, the big dog, where the fastest and lest broken wins, and "Daily Driver" class.

Good luck. Take lots of pictures, let us know how everything goes, with you and the other competition.

Maybe I'll have to take the Datsun next year, just to give you a run.

I wasn't planning on running Drag Week until AFTER I had done a LOT of planned work to it, but by Drag Week next year I could get the car pretty respectable.

Ready to go. I'm not scared of Hurricane IKE!

Six: they have many classes, Unlimited, small block power adder, big block power adder, small block NA, daily driver (my class), etc. You get plaques for quickest 4 cylinder, quickest 6 cylinder, quickest deisel, quickest without a trailer, etc. There is not seperate class for 6 clyinders, just a plaque being the fastest. You don't have to be fast to participate. If you have next week off, show up at Beach Bend Raceway in Kentucky and they probably have room for you (they have never met capacity yet, and this year may be the lowest yet due to the poor economy). You do not need to be preregistered, so as long as they have space you can join in.

I'm not going to be gunning for 11's, so don't hold your breath. I want to make the whole drive and average mid 12's. This is a vacation for me, I don't plan to touch the car other than the MSII tune and MAYBE the boost controller screw on the last day!

Ahh,ok, so they aren't really "classes" just recognition of certain properties of each car, which is still pretty cool.

I won't be attending, gaurantee that. on top of not having next week off, this will take a few months of planning, if not longer, since I like in Canada, eh? I would have needed to be on the road yesterday at the latest to even have a hope of getting there.

I have been thinking that I would at least enter Drag Week once with the car before I do the "big build" on it, so next year may be it, since I'll get a plaque.

Good luck. It wouldn't hurt if you put up a sign at the entrance forbidding GN's and T-Types from entering.

We had some issues, mainly my fault. I didn't even get out of the 13s on the Monday, fortunately it was just a TNT. Today was the first day that counted, but I did several runs back to back due to the threat of rain. By the time I got my nerves settled down, the clutch was smoked. Best pass was a 12.41 at 112.81 with the clutch slipping at after the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts.

Clutch should be a little better tomorrow, the 300mile drive to Steele Alabama got the clutch cleaned up.

Its driving good, and the A/C works great!

Oh, and the next closest V6 is a GN that went a 12.69 today, so I believe I have a chance at quickest 6!
