im thinking of buying a beater 3rd gen but the guy says the odmeter doesnt work for some reason, what could be the problem?

Last time I checked those speed's are not cable driven..they are electronic

Yep, they're electronic. The later 3rd gens use digital odos as well but if it's an early mechanical odo, then it's probably stripped odo gears as said before.

Russ change the cluster, if its not that try the VSS don't recall them being bad though.......if not that either, its electrical

That's why I said some LATER 3rd gens...the 95's and 96's I know used mechanical ones.

I recently picked up a 93 Cav and the trip odometer doesn't work. How difficult is it to remove the instrument cluster. This is my first American car and I know very little about them (always had Volkswagens and BMW up until this one)

my tripometer on my 3rd gen is busted to it doesnt work just rolll it back n resell it for what you got after you beat it up this winter
