I'm not up on what stock wheels were available on the different j bodies, so can anyone tell me if I can find some 15x7s that will fit my 91 sunbird le? I have a set of snow tires I'd like to put on the bird, but they are 205 70 15 or somewhere around there (currently on some 15x7 ford ten holes). Also, I know 5x100 is a pretty common lug pattern, but what is the stock backspacing? Also I'm not looking for aftermarket, just something that is cheap and will let me fit the tires I have to the bird. Thanks!

205's should fit fine on 6" wide rims, my tires are 205-55-16's on a 6" rim, my drag radials are 215-60-14s on the stock checkered boards.

Berreta Crosslace wheels are 7" wide.

Ideal for mounting slicks as well.

Fiero also has them I think.

Like Joe said, 205's will fit fine on 6" rims. The 70 series will be a bit tall compared to the stock fitment of our cars and therefore might knock your speedo off a bit. As long as your car isn't lowered, you shouldn't have major rub issues though.

If you're dead set on going wider, the Beretta crosslace wheel is your best bet. The Fiero wheels should be similar but may be harder to find. A few older Chryslers may have had 6.5" or 7" rims (LeBaron, Daytona, 5 lug Neons 95+) and fit our cars well.

205/55/16 isn't the wrong size for a 16x6 or a 16x7 rim

lol just look at all the 240 guys that stretch a 195 width tire on a 8in rim lol

Yes, but just because YOU had a bad experience with cheap tires (and yes, Cooper tires are generic cheap tires ) that means OP will have problems due to sizing too?

And FYI, those tires you had weren't the wrong size. And in OP's case with a stock Z suspension, all he'll have to worry about is some rub at full lock and a little rub at full suspension travel.

Ever stop to think that Soup replies to you in a smartass fashion for a reason?

Thanks for all the replies. I don't actually care about going wider, I care about having something that will fit. The bird's wheels are 14s and the tires are for 15s. Other than that 6 or 7 doesn't matter to me as long as it works. The tires are actually 205 65 15s, not 70s. Are there any other options than the Beretta crosslace? I like them, but can they be found cheap? Thanks!

For cheap, can't beat the Beretta crosslace. They were more widely available (standard on the GT from 88-93ish IIRC) than any of your other options.

Like I said, you might want to look into some Chrysler wheels as well...a lot of them use 5x100 pattern and 15" rims but are only 6" wide. Again, fine for your application. Check Shadow/Daytona/LeBaron wheels as well as newer Neons (01+). If those are more common in the yards around you, you might get a good deal.

Sweet, I'll see if I can find a set...

Backspacing on all the Chrysler wheels you mentioned will also be the same/work for the bird?

Yes, more than a handful of guys are running Chrysler wheels on their cars with 0 issues. Backspacing is nearly identical.

Thanks again, I may have found a set of 15x6 Dodge Daytona wheels that will do the trick.
