I have been sick lately, but managed to get most everything wired up. I actually was able to turn over the motor today, although just to say I could. I have to get the fuel pump going yet. But I will tell you it was sweet victory to hear her turn over.
Have a few issues to deal with differences as the wiring harness is from an '89, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

posted in General forum about a wiring harness problem I am having. The 1990 harness is not matching the 1985 fuse block. If you have diagrams, please post there for me. I believe it is keeping the car from running as everything is installed

Does the 90 have a fuse block under the dash? If so I can get you one for an 89 and a 90. 89 should be close if not the same as yours. Just need to know for the 90.

Car is back outside under a tarp. Have done little diagnosing yet. Even though erlier I had posted incorrectly, the current wiring harness is from a 1990. Not sure about how easy it would be to integrate a 1990 fuse block. I may just end up re-wiring so the fuel pump and what ever else isn't getting juice, does. It figures, too, as I have great disdain for intricate electrical problems.

I'd just trace out what's not working and you should be able to hook it all up to the old fuse box. Just take your time.
When i wired my 91 Cavalier engine harness into the 89 Camaro body harness i had all kinds of the same problems. I'm an electronics engineer and it still gave me a headache.
Edit.. here you go...

Odd, I used a '91 harness (albeit from an L-body) to convert my 4cyl auto to 5-speed manual, and all but I think one of the wires matched up between them at the driver side bulkhead connector. I did have to swap out the 4 wires for the wiper motor, because the L-body's wiper motor was different.
I used the Haynes repair manual to look at pin position in that bulkhead connector and compare the harnesses.

Here's an update: Been crazy hot here and with the car in direct sunlight, it has put a damper on my "enthusiasm" to work on her. Well, that and spending time up north on the lake
Confidence is high that it will be running soon which probably means in time for snow lol.

I spotted your swap a couple months ago, and have been waiting for admin to authorize my account so I could post a reply... just wondering, considering your swap, is your original 2.8 engine harness/ECM intact, and would you be willing to part with it?
I had an 86 Z that I was in process of restoring before the storage yard sold it on me, but I've been looking (with no success) for another 85/86 2.8 donor car that I could pull wiring from for my project... I built a 3.4/3400 hybrid motor for my 86, which has been sitting in my garage for several years, which I would like to use now in one of my Fieros (considering the rarity of 1st gen Z24's around here, I've all but given up on finding a replacement for mine, which was totally a sentimental value car anyway), but in order to use the motor, I either have to spent a fortune on full custom programming, or else track down a mass-air based ECM and Harness from an 85/86 J-body to run it... I could/would use the setup from my 87 Z24, due to the body being rusted/damaged beyond reasonable repair, but the 87 is DIS, and I need to keep my distributor to make the motor work the way I set it up...
Just hoping you might be able to help...
And that's a beautiful 1st gen Vert, BTW... I always wanted to build a 1st gen Z24 Vert, but never found a suitable body that I could afford...

Sorry to all for the long delay in posting. Life has dealt me some serious blows as of late and the project has been just sitting.
And now I have had to make the unfortunate but necessary decision to sell her. She is just some wiring away from running. Such a shame as this car has been in the family since 1986
87Zbeater the harness for the 2.8 is not useable. I cut it. Sorry.
