I have successfuly modifed a 1991 AUJP1350 Tune Port Injection 350 bin file to work on the 3.1L engine using the same computer. TPI's and our cavalier's have the same computer. 1227730.

I have found the place in the bin file to change the spark referance angle, minimum and maximum spark advance. I copied my VE tables and spark tables over and adjusted my idle and it works great.

There will be some repinning required. The TPI code does not control a AC Clutch Relay, where as the $A1 code does.

Also I don't have a speed reading yet, but my schematics show it to be on the correct pin.

The change will give you 16 block learn cells, as apposed to only 3 with the $A1 code. TTS Datamaster also works with the $8D and there is tons of other support for the $8D mask.

If someone is interested in trying this out let me know. I have modified my TDF file for Tunercat, I have tried with TunerPro but the equation is not working properly.

Hey I got TunerPro working fine along with TunerCAT, both shows data correctly.

here's what you got to do to have your 3.1L run on $8D mask. this will just get ignition correct, after that its up to you to tune VE, Timing Tables, Injector Size, Cylinder Volume, Number of cylinders

change Spark Advance Initial from 5.98 TPI to 59.77 for DIS ignition v6
change Spark Advance Max from 41.84 TPI to -9.84 for DIS
change Spark Retard Max from -3.87 to -69.96 for DIS

that is all there is to it.

a few bugs still in it. No speed registered, A/C request works differently on $8D, computer doesnt turn on ac compressor clutch, so a rewire would be needed.

On mine it kept setting code 41 cylinder select error. Have not figured it out.. I disabled the DTC at one time but would like to fix it.

included with this are 3 files:
8D_modified_for_3.1L_MPFI.bin - this is what I have been testing on my car
8Dfor31L.xdf - this is the XDF file for TunerPro has new constants above
AUJP1350 - 1991 Z28 Camaro 350TPI.bin - stock unmodified I saved from a friends car.

good luck
