| i just installed my new transmission on tuesday and to go with it i put in a fidanza lightweight flywheel.. it cost me $300 but so far im loving it it revs and accelerates alot faster i am quite impressed with it so far. but ill find out next weekend wat it really did for me.. finally gettin on the dyno. im hoping to be somewhere in the 220whp range if i can hit around that number i will be happy for a n/a 2.8l .. but if you guys are looking for some more hp and torque lightweight flywheel is it if you dont already have one... |

It is very unlikely that you will get 220whp with your 2.8, unless you have done a lot of major work to this engine and or are boosted.
A 2.8 in excellent running order and low miles will net you 110 - 115whp. |

if all in your reg is the only thing done?
underdrive pulley, colld air intake, eliminated all ac components, msd ignition, accel wires, hypertech perf. chip, 160 degree hypertech thermostat, just added a new fidanza lightweight aluminum flywheel.
220WHP is a long way goal. your not close. |

I would be interested in knowing what kind of numbers you do pull at the dyno.
Not trying to flame you... I am truly interested. |

I dread that flywheel with a passion. I have read enough disaster stories to keep me away. Hope it works out for you.
On to that power out put thing...
With HEAVILY ported: heads, lim, uim, then a 62mm TB, and headers, 272 cam, and a real actual professional tune, PLUS you current mods AND a manual trans, you MIGHT be able to hang with a 3400 swapped J bod that has a CAI, and tune attached to an auto 3t40. _________________

Give the man some details as to why. From what I hear, the bolts that hold it to the crankshaft like to shear off. _________________

Considering the Hypertech chips typically show 0-2 HP gain on the dyno.. and a 2.8 5 speed puts down 95-105 HP @ the wheels stock.. i'd say 110-115 HP @ the wheels.
Not trying to discourage you, but it takes ALOT more than that to break 200 WHP. At the very least you'll need a large cam and a 3400 top end with headers, larger TB and alot of tuning.
Still interrested in seeing the dyno chart with that flywheel, i considered buying it but i heard some bad things.. plus my engine revs fast enough as it is. _________________

Are these horror stories relates to the Fidanza only or do they apply to all aluminum flywheels?? _________________

I have only seen Fidanza wheels being a issue. The center part would separate from the outer area where the clutch makes contact) and it'll most likely destroy the trans case. I would NOT be surprised IF it could come through the floor aiming right at you possibly slicing you up.
They did CLAIM to have revised there product, but who really knows.
Another thing that has happened was that the bolts holding it on would back out enough to oblong the holes rendering the flywheel garbage. _________________

Hopefully my SPEC holds up better than the Fidanza.. _________________

ya I've heard things like that too. I was considering a fidanza but decided to stick with the stronger stock flywheel and resurface it |
