Definitely a rare car. Looks to be in good shape too... I haven't even seen a lumina z34 or even a regular old lumina on the road in a long time....

I was going to buy one of these before I bought my Beretta. If I had the extra cash I'd go buy that one today.

Q and A with the owner

How's the undercarriage? Seen many winters?

Overall good shape. Nothing rotted through, some surface rust on trailing arms, front undercarriage, etc. Nothing structurally to worry about.

Any rust bubbles? (particularly in the rear quarters)

Just in pass. side 1/4 by wheel well (2"-3" where rear fascia bolts on/easy fix)

Recent t-belt / alt?

Neither. I bought the car w/139K and neither have given me problems. No hard starting or sputtering

Any trans grinding?

4th gear grinds every once in a while at Higher RPM (3K-up)

Hows the clutch? ( original, replaced, slipping, good?)

Okay for now, no slipping but after 20K or so may need to replace.

Original motor? Any knocks or ticking at cold start up?

Original 3.4 Twin Dohc, no ticks or knock at startup but uses a quart of oil between changes (3K-4K miles). Does have high idle when really cold (20 degrees or less), but goes away after warm up. I'll incluse a set of Fel-Pro Intake gaskets with the car.

Suspension original?

Yep, installed new Gabriel rear struts in May, front ones could use attention

Brakes decent?

Okay for now, will need replaced soon.

Whats the exhaust setup on it?

Stock with Cherry Bomb Turbo's and Stainless Oval tips (stock replacements were too pricey)

Double din deck included?

Stock 1.5 DIN tape deck is in car now.

Does the trunk leak?

Nope

Turn signal switch work good?

Recently replaced, and works great

Dashpad warped?

Partially around defrost vent

AC work?
Recently converted to 134a, control kinda goofy (stuck on heat/defrost) I think it's an issue w/ the vacuum canister below battery

Cat present / newer cat / no cat?
Factory cat, flows well

Also, the drivers door handle was replaced today. Trying to get lock adjusted to operate correctly and not lock me out. Should be good to go quickly. Also there is some wear on the driver's seat from getting in and out over the years. Cheap fix.

t I replaced the hood about 2 months ago since original was rusted out in front. New one is the standard hood. Also this has a new ALUMINUM radiator instead of the original one with plastic tanks that always leak.

I would love to drive one of those... it would be much better with a 5 speed! I have driven the autos and they are allright, but the manual trans would make the car much more fun.

Everyone that I know that has worked on that engine hates them. The timing belt is ridiculous. something about the timing gears. never done one myself.

its not THAAAT bad if you have the tools to do it, and do it right the first time, after having set the rear cams, you need to rotate the crank one whole turn to get TDC again before you time the front head, a lot of people dont do that and end up with fucked timing, and have to take it all apart again

Looks to be a decent car. If you know your way around an LQ1, they are a cakewalk. The only really pain in the ass thing to fix is the oilpump driveshaft. On any 660 they are annoying, but on the DOHC you have to pull the rear head . Most people just goop it up and hope it stops the leak

Earlier this year, I was going to pick up a neon blue (same as mine), near mint, fully loaded '92 GTP 5-speed (1 of only 499 made 5 speed GTPs, add in the colour and options... quite rare), but I didn't get back to the person in time. He may have just stored it for the winter since it was in his front yard, scrapped it, or sold it. I'll be checking again in the spring.
