Beautiful color on that car, and nice WAI too. Every time I hear the word "Miata", I think of the movie Bench warmers for some reason lol.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bI5XaP9zJyo

It's somewhere in that intro video, but too lazy to watch it and look. I own the movie, and the part where he hits the windshield with the baseball always makes me laugh.

Anyways, excellent looking. What are the stats for it all the way around? Manual or auto? HP? TQ? Engine Size? Blah blah blah, the works. Just always been curious about these cars. Isn't it a rotary engine too?

nice, big fan of them lil cars. I want a new hardtop model and a first gen... really year does not matter. First one I ever drove was an 06 model and it was great which is probably why I want a new one so much but I do love the old ones.

And they are not rotary powered(thank goodness imo). Just lil 4 bangers. HP ranges from 130-150 with about the same tq if i remember correctly. Not a lot but there is ways of changing that plus they are pretty light. I raced a dude in a newer one that has it Supercharged, sounded great and went pretty good, hung in with me pretty well.

What do they weigh? I thought they were race oriented and had more then 150 HP. That seems kind of low for me, including with that torque.

Nope, not high HP monsters, there was a turbo Mazdaspeed version but only 180hp(highest of them), weight was between 2200-2500lbs(depending on model, year and options) or so, here is a good read

yea they dont have the greatest hp, but they definitally make up for it with the abulity to take turns at 80mph in which the cavalier would have been in the ditch.

mines making about 110whp but with it being light its not to bad. The supercharger kit im geting will put it up to 200-245whp depending on which pully i go with. with this car being as light as it is 200 whp will feel like a cavalier with 300hp.

one example of weight savings is the hoods. the oem hood on the miata weighs about 6 punds. the oem cavalier hood (z24) weighs like 45 pounds or so it seams anyways.

Mine is a 5 speed/torsen LSD miata. stock other than the WAI, and ark racing muffler.

Im currenlty waiting on a c/f trunk lid to arrive, and a vis racing c/f hardtop.
both are made to order parts... so takes about 30 days to get them from the day you order them.

at the end of the day the miata will never be a drag car, though it will hit high 12's/low 13's with the right f/i settup, but the car is designed more for scca racing. and mountain driveing.

maniac, you should drive this gen before you buy one. Most people on the miata rate the NB body miatas to have the best engine's and also the suspension is a much better feel compaired to the new one. the new ones have much worse body roll.

Yea I like those years too, but no doubt if I ever go I am looking for a newer Hardtop. I would not be racing it at all so some body roll is not a big thing for me, won't be my only car anyway. There have been a few mazdaspeed editions popping up for sale around me. But not sure if I will even go for one now, lots of things happening and since they finally brought the Fiat 500 over and now released the Abarth that is what I really want(loved those cars for a good many years).

I used to love that game! Played it all the time, and ended up beating the one for N64 and GameCube.
