Anybody know where I could find just the fuel level sensor? All the stores in town want me to buy the whole fuel pump assembly for $400. I just want the $12 sensor so my fuel gauge doesn't fool me into thinking I'm getting 450 kms on the first half of my tank.

My only option so far is to drop a tank at the junkyard and get one, but it'll likely be worn out like mine and read wrong anyways.

They are less than 200US NEW here for a aftermarket brand.. Why so much over there?

I would guess that if you really need one, part+shipping would still be cheaper.

Drop your tank and turn the key on and move the float. Your sensor may be fine and just need to adjust the float.

Do you have it out? If you can get a pic of it by itself I can compare it to a few I have laying around.

I don't have it out. My plan was to get another one in my hand before I started taking anything apart. That way if it does need replacing I'll have the part as apposed to leaving my car tankless until I could find that stupid sensor.

I was thinking of maybe snagging one off a newer GM vehicle at the junkyard and then attempting to mount it to the cavy's fuel bucket. It seems like they should all be the same with the exception of how they mount. Finding a newer one has the added bonus of being less worn out, thus more acurate.

Bit of info I found out is that the purple signal wire is supposed to put out 90 ohms when the tank is full, and 0 ohms when it's empty.

I have never seen a fuel level sensor go bad. They always were miss aligned or had a bent/ sticking float.
