Searching for weight reduction 45 topics came up in the performance forum, 31 in general j body and 4 in suspension & chassis. Thats the reason I posted in performance, though the topic could be posted in any of the forums.

Update on weights; JSP carbon fiber hood w/ latch 22 lb. Phase 2 dash w/ all hardware 26 lb. Phase 2 center console w/ all hardware and side attachments 8 lb. Phase 2 door panels (top & bottom) w/ all hardware 11 lb. each. Door w/ window & seat belt, no door panel or mirror 83 lb.

Does anyone have a trunk lid they could weigh.

It is a sticky now. I re-arranged the info to make it easier to follow. I'm going to do some looking around for other stuff to put in there thats relevant. If anyone else has stuff, just post it in here.

I've thought of the same thing. The problems though are 1.) that the doors are part of the structure, would need to add sub frame braces. 2.) how much would you trust those doors in a side collision (so they wouldn't be for everyday street cars). 3.) it would be difficult to mold the actual frame of the door as I believe that is where most of the weight is. The exterior sheet metal might weigh 10-15 lb.

If you can build them and they are fairly sturdy, hell yeah I would be in for a set.

x2 I would be in, if they would be good structural wise and what not, no more worrying about rusting doors, that would be awesome, Fiberglass FTW!
