Going to buy a set of wheels and BFGoodrich T/A's (15") for my 88.

Ive looked at all sorts of rims and narrowed down my choices to these two.

American Racing Maverick 7" wide.
http://www.americanracing.com/wheel/4339/ar883-maverick

Sport Tuning T10 6.5" wide.
https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseUpServlet?target=wheelCloseUp&wheelMake=Sport+Tuning&wheelModel=T10&wheelFinish=Machined+w/Black+Accent

Both are made in china... Yes, it is true, American Racing rims are now made in china
That fact turns me off to them. But I haven't ruled them out entirely.

Anyway, I did a quick photoshop of the two on a picture of the car. By no means professional results, but it will give you an idea of what the wheels will look like on it. I found a picture of the T/A tire, but the tire is bigger than a 205/60R16. It will give you an idea of how they'll look though, I guess.

I'm going to use factory GM lug nuts with the black plastic screw on covers.

What do you think?

Well, I went with the Sport Tuning wheels along with a set of BFGoodrich T/A tire. I pick them up in Midway GA tomorrow. I'll have them on the car Saturday.

I picked the ST wheels since they are 6.5" wide, which is the middle of the tires wheel size range of 5.5-7.5". I also like the looks of them a bit better than the AR ones. Plus, it is a turn off to me to know AR wheels are not made in the USA anymore (or at least these weren't).
I don't want a wheel with an American Racing center cap and a Made in China casting on the back

After spending hours looking at wheels that will properly fit my car, the ST were the ones I liked the looks of the best. Sure they are china wheels, but at least they don't carry and old icon of American made quality products that now means nothing.

The package cost $870.87 and a days drive to go get them, which I'll enjoy

I'll update with some pictures Saturday.

Been a long day. 10 hours of driving, 12 hour trip.

Here is a pre-install update.

The wheels look much nicer in person than they did in the picture. I'm very pleased with them.

The tires are not too old, less than a year since manufactured.

A couple of the wheels took quite a bit of weight to balance, but as long as they are in balance, I don't care.

The way they are packaged is how they would be shipped, if one was to have them shipped to you rather than in person pickup.

The lug nuts are nickle and I believe I am going to use them. I think they will look nice, since they match the spokes machined finish and the recess for the lug nuts is black.

In the morning I will wash them and wax the wheels. Then get them on the car and take some pictures.

I can already tell, these new wheels are going to make a paint job a must Exclamation

Here is the pictures of them on the car. I just got everything together a little while ago. Had to help a friend load a 1928 Model A Truck and then his 31 Ford Deluxe. He lived next door and is moving.

Anyway, I like these wheels/tires very much and already had someone at a Race Track store I stopped at on the shack down run say; Nice wheels

Those are my favorite of the two.

Nice car, they stay pretty down in Florida!

I wonder how it would look with out the louvers

Thanks
I had a tough time deciding which of the two wheels I was going to get. Had the American Racing wheels been made in the US, I'd have gotten them simply for that reason.

Actually the car needs a paint job. It looks better in the pictures than it does in real life, especially the roof and the hood. At some point it had a bra on it and the paint on the hood is damaged where it was. Florida is good to keep one rust free, but the sun and heat will have a major toll on things, if they sit out in it very long. I put a car cover on whichever one I drive to work. I plan to make covers myself out of Sunbrella Canvas. Also going to make custom dash covers that covers the steering wheel too. Just haven't had the time to make patterns for them yet.

I like the louvers myself. They help against the sun and I like the way it looks with them. I know they are not for everyone, but I'm happy with them. I wanted aluminum, but couldn't find any. Also wanted to get side quarter window louvers too, but none where available anymore. I remember one site had them listed, but refunded my money saying they were discontinued Sad

I feel like 3rd Gen louvers are a close fit?

I was going to take a piece of plotter paper with me to a junk yard to trace out the quarter window of a 3rd gen to see how close they are. I never did though and just kinda lost interest in the idea. But now, I'm starting to think maybe I should. As they too may become discontinued items like the 2nd gen style. It wouldn't hurt to have a set, as long as they are a close match.
