i have just started to disassemble a 2.8 engine and want to make it a performance engine to put in my z24 what all modifications can i do to it to give it more horsepower. any help would be appreciated
Definately go with a cam. Crane cams makes a nice cam for our engines. Think they run about $125 or so, and should give you a nice increase.
Port and polish your heads, intake etc.
If you arent going to bore the cylinder walls, go with the stock pistons and crank from a 3.1L engine. That will instantly make your 2.8 a 3.1, because the only difference between the 2.8 and 3.1 is the stroke. You could also increase the compression with some different pistons.
If you want to overbore your cylinders, you can safely overbore by 0.60", which would make your 2.8, a 2.9, or if you stroke it with the 3.1 crank, it will be a 3.2L
Multi angle valve job....new valves, rockers.
Those are just a few suggestions. All depends on how much money you have to blow
