I heard from a friend that installing a torque converter from a 2.2 auto into the 3.1 auto makes a huge diffrence is this true

yes it will.. the 2.2L torque converter is a higher stall.. this will give you more juice off the line..

if it gives you more juice off the line will it affect your top end any?

yeah it will.. it will also affect gas milage slightly as well.. you will loose some top end because the torque converter alows the engine to rev higher before applying power to the trasmission... my friend who I had a 3 speed built for has a 3000 stall converter in his car along with a taller gear ratio and at 100 km/h hes doing close to 4000 rpm
