ok... now ive takin it to mechanics and they have no clue whats going on but my altenator has brown dust just on the side and fan, and belt pulley.. and this is really sticky brown dust...the voltage coming off it is perfect. some people says it could have been from the repainting of the altenator at the shop but the dust comes off the paint like it was never there..
also the altenator is starting to make noise. lemme know if ya know what i mean..

sounds kinda strange. If it is starting to make noise, that probably means it is starting to go bad (although they can fail without warning, like i found out recently)
No clue on the brown stuff though...

I would guess that the brown dust is maybe rust forming on the bearing and that would also make it noisy. has teh car sat for a while??

Or i think that when the brushes wear they through off brown dust.???

just an idea but if its working why screw with it???
RIGHT?

good luck
