WARNING: this stuff smells like uncured epoxy and DEATH. use it in a VERY well ventilated area.

Spray it on the dry rim. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Your wheel will turn purple.
Agitate it with a wet wheel brush. Spray it off. If you have a pressure washer, that'd help but it's not necessary.

It will convert all the iron into a water-soluble compound that rinses away easily.
