anyone ever replaced the clutch for bearings on an hm282? i took the fork out of a scrap trans i had, since it was still good, and i pulled the bearing out of the top side just to take a look at it. it's needle bearings in a cage, and on this one, the sid ethat gets pushed against, the cage is completely worn through and the bearings were falling out, one made it under the end of the fork sahft and dented the cap outwards.

i need to find a repalcement bearing, i'd liek to have this spare fork reconditioned since it's all grooved from the worn bearing, and put new bearings in my tranny when i go to repalce the clutch later this year or early next... and i can't find a list for the bearings anywhere

it says Nadella DBF69882 on the end of the bearing, btw, the cao that faces outward on the front of the trans...

Type
Roller Bearings

Needle-Roller Bearing Style
Double Sealed

Roller Type
Needle

System of Measurement
Metric

For Shaft Diameter
16 mm

Outside Diameter
22 mm

Width
16 mm

perfect. it's got seals on both ends, which makes up for the fact that i think it's open on both ends instead of capped on one end like the stock one.....

yeah i have an 89 trans that's the same way. problem is you really should have the capped bearing on this to keep it from sliding around. machine shop guy said $$$ to fix the spare fork since it's hardened, might try to find a sleeve and have it turned down and sleeved back up to the proper 16mm dia. but that's only if i can find new bearings for it.

the only thing holding that fork from moving up and down is the TO bearing and however tight that top bearing is in the bore, the cap that's on the upper bearing is just a dust cover. mine came right out with a little tap.

what's wrong with the spare fork?

mine is worn on the tips, i was going to use the welder to add some metal to it and then take it to the bench grinder at work to clean it all up. It wasn't really bad enough yet to worry about though. it's probably good for another 50K miles or more.

doesn't amtter now, i found a new fork online, it's in the mail. ATP part number ZA129, been disconintued for a while but there's a few left out there on shelves. mine's coming from california. 60 bucks shipped.

just need those bearings.

if you've driven dustins car, you'll know why i want eveyrhting to be as nice and new as i can get it. he has a HUGE edge over me because of how nice his transmission and shifter setup shifts. it's like butter.

haha. yeah i'm slightly worried about that but not too much. our older getrags are only rated at 200 lb/ft  i'm more worried about him snapping that long-ass pass. side axle than anything. but if he doesn't, i'm seriously conidering trying to swap one of those trannies into my car. The improvement in shifting would be well worth the trade-off in clutch feel. i hate how internal style clutches feel in J's :-?
