Just making sure I am getting the correct engine for my swap, ANY of the early model LX9 3500s (without VVT) should work right? The only difference in some are the exhaust manifolds?
Example: 2005 Malibu - exhaust runs under the engine, 2005 Uplander it runs down the back side

Yes, it's the LX9 you want. The one with VVT is an LZ4 and LZE (Flex fuel version)

The one you want DOESN'T have a V shape in the UIM, it'll be rectangular as viewed from above, the front cover will also be flat, due to lack of VVT actuator/phaser.
