When i shut the car off the fan wont turn off i need to diconnect the battery for the fan to stop what could be wrong?

i'm not sure what the problem is but maybe a wire or sensor or sumthin is shot or u could just unhook it or sumthin.. i'm not really too sure

I agree with Spaceman about the fan relay Jamienfld. Or it could be the wiring to the coolant fan switch or the switch it self. I had the same problem but my fan turns off with the key. I was told that the problem was with my cars computer which I don't believe.. Good luck finding the problem... Wish ya luck...

I'd put my money on the relay too. GM put the relay right next to the battery, and it rusts inside. My fan wouldnt come on, so i took the relay apart, and the contacts were rusted open. Yours are probably rusted closed.

i don't know if 2nd gen's have this or not, but mine will keep running for a while sometimes when it's realy hot outside

I've never had that happen with my 1991 or 1993 Z24's.

mine did the same thing and it was the cooling sensor.
