Could be possible, the 79-85 mustang gt's sucked, stock 87-present mustang gt's eat stock z's for lunch as long as the driver has any sort of a clue what he is doing. I'm guessing if he did it was probably against a 79-86
SO the car is actually equipped with a 2.8, but because he has an aftermarket or at least different exhaust and "stuff" you call it a 3.1, even though the stroke is still a 2.99" stroke and 3.503" bore (x6) making it a 2.8, what would happen if he had the power of a 5.0L, would you say "my friend with an '88 Z24 with a 5.0L"?
i got a z24 3.1 with exhaust and a cai and i never beat a GT with it, but my cavi aint my racer i just leave that to my camaro>i never lost yet.

Yeah I've always wondered how a 16 or 15 second car can beat a 14 second car stock for stock, I think people are racing 4 cylinder Mustangs and calling them GTs. :-?
