ive got the 1997 Z rims on mine and i got 205/55/16 and they are good.
I believe a 215 will fit, but it would likely look weird. I'd not go wider than 205 on a 6" wide wheel.
my tires are 215 on a 6.5" rim
Well I do have 205/55/16 but the car handles for shit with my stock 14's on it it handles better. It could be the type of tires but the 16's are goodyear and they are practically new so i was thinkin with wider tires it should handle better.

205 is the height, the second number is the width. IE 205/55r16

No, it's not. The first number is the tread width in millimeters, then the second number is an aspect ratio of height to width.

What size tires are on your stock 14's? This as well as different tire types could affect the handling.
The tire size with my 14's are 215/60/14 with BF Goodrich Radial TA's which the tread isnt that gr8 at all the back is about bald and the fronts are decent.
You might try something like a Sumitomo HTR+ (allseason) or Kumho 716 (allseason), 711 (summer), or 712 (summer). I like Kumho tires because they're inexpensive and they perform well. Just check out the reviews on tirerack.com. :pimp: That'll give you an idea of how good all the different tires are.

16x6 rims
225/50/16 rear tires (mounting on the 6" wide rim was no prob)
215/55/16 front tires
Lowerd 2inches, Intrax springs
No rubbing whatsoever.

is simpler words, its a percentage of the width (ie. 55% of 205mm) :D
I just put on 225/50/16 on the 95-99 style rim. No rubbing, but its close. My car is not lowered. I imagine if I had passengers in the back, it may rub. Haven't tried yet.

you might as well put the 225s on the back, and whatever you want (smaller) on the front
What I don't understand is why in the blue hell you would want a wider tire in the back? The front is what needs more traction!

yea people only put wider tires in the back of the car if its rwd, so they get more traction
