passengers side floor00.00%
middle console, which would require custom console00.00%
centre dash1100.00%

ok basicly i have this thing working. i need a place for the display to go.. and in cav's there's not alot of places i can mount this..my preference would be on the dash if the screen was smaller but its huge.. plz keep in mind i have to use what i have because i dont have the cash for buying things  note: i'm making covers and bezels for everything 8)

= drivers view with the screen angled.. i like it in the car because its right there.. but its huge compared with everything else...

= same thing but from the passengers view

= the one i like the best because it suits the driver the best.. downside is that it blocks the vents which would have to be moved..?

= could work..... takes the least amount of room.

= i'm leaning towards this one because 1) its hidden 2) its out of the way 3) its the easiest to do... on the downside 1) someone might kick it:p 2) if i take passengers i wont be able to see it that well 3) i have to take my eyes off the road to see whats on the screen

= same but from the pass side.... its not that bad of a place i think.

heh.. my applogies for the long post but want to know what anyone else thinks....

well if you wanna put there that's fine but just keep in mind any screen in view of the driver is highly illegal and if a cop sees it (kinda hard to hide something that big) your gonna end up having to rip it out on site or pay on hell of a fine in court. If it were me I'd make some sort of flip down mechinisim and mount it to the roof somehow.
....even in canada?? in bc? hmm.. donno.. i should check into that :p cause the whole point was so i could see the screen.. if they're worried about people watching vids.... i donno i can't possibly do that the hw's not there.. other then that i dont know what the diff is btw a screen and a lcd display like what they have on decks now...

i've never heard of that law b4, good thing to know for some of the things that are running through my head
ya i say prob mount it to roof, prob best bet, but if u got a sunroof ur kinda screwed....
 i gots a sunroof
i hope it doesnt get cold where you live...... there is little to no insulation on a laptop LCD after you remove the casing.... that bitch will freeze up real quick...... thats why LCDs designed for car use are alot thicker.
really??? never heard of that.. and its got 2 flourecent tubes in it so the screen stays quite warm but then again in vancouver i dont really have to worry about it getting too cold :/
isn't their sometihng u could put over the screen to protect it?
if this does work just fine. i'm gonna try it a few weeks before i make it permanent, but i'm planning on making either a plexiglass case for it or a lexan case.. depends on what i can use easier... maybe i'll just use the bezel that came with it too??? then everthing is made to fit already!
May i ask how the hell you got that to work dude? and what are you using to put things on the screen looks like you got the stock radio in there?
well u're right on all accounts.. it is the stock radio, so all i'm doing is either going to find where it attaches to the speakers. *using the car kit from my cd player for now until i get time to hardwire it* and how?? i'm running windows 98 with winamp scripted to run when it boots up so all i need to control it is 4 buttons :) which are controlled via serial port.. there's lots of ways i can do it but this is how i chose so far
dude and lcd doesnt have light bulbs in it. lcs stands for liquid crystal display. basically there are a million little tubes filled with a liqid and when electified, they glow different colors. however the downside is that it is LIQUID. when it gets below 32 the screen can freeze and when things freeze the expand which will crack the screen. car lcds are built to withstand this but laptop lcd's are not. i dunno how you are gonna make this work man. good luck though
lol thx for the encouragement.. btu dont worry.. the thing gets plenty hot with the flourescent lights.. i've checked that i'm i am insulating it from shock/heat/cold so not to worry.. i shouldnt have posted the pics cause they're misleading... i just wanted to find a place to put the fucking thing.. lol now i think i've found it i want to make it look decent.. u know?
If I were you I'd relocate the radio and a/c controls and put it right there in the middle.
i would but the friggin thing is too wide. and the vid controller i have doesnt allow for rotating the desktop.. there i'd be with winamp sideways
