My service engine light keeps coming on.The code says 25.So I checked the sensor and it seems to be flaky.Could this sensor cause any hesitation upon acceleration.Any help would be great.

MAT and IAT are the same air temp sensor for 90 and earlier cars and relates to a code 25. The name depends on where is was installed manifold or intake. There is only one air temp sensor used.

A MAP sensor is a different sensor. It measures the intake vacuum which is related to the load on the engine.

Hope it helps

correct me if im wrong, but i believe that what it does is adjust the richness of the fuel mixture depending on the temerature of the air being drawn through the intake. if the air is colder, then more fuel is required to prevent a lean condition from occuring.
