Well, to show I'm not dead I'm going to post this!

Sold my 240sx, and currently getting my latest car road legal so it can be my new DD until winter comes around.
Currently driving my gf's 2.2 94 4-door haha.
(Had to put v8 hatchback into storage until I'm back from base so my father can have his car in the other side of the garage haha. So I'm still not done with that project either. ;) )

Well, the new girl is a 1971 Datsun 510 2-door sedan, originally from Georgia.
It came with a '71 510 donor car as well.(all the parts car is good for is the rollcage I'm cutting out. absolutely nothing left)

Currently just getting the car ready to be on the road and drivable, and then tearing it apart this winter and restoring it.
Currently it's a L20B, with dog-leg 5-speed.
I just finished doing the brakes(so hard to find parts for this.) and just about ready to make the new slave cylinder work(not the right one, but it'll work eventually haha)
The issue I'm having now is that the old wires are so frail and badly corroded a lot of them have to be replaced. Another issue is the fact that the new starter that came with the car, seems to not be the correct one as it's hitting the flywheel and not fully engaging. When I got the dime, i ended up getting a few truck hauls worth of parts with it, so i grabbed a few starters out of the pile of parts and hopefully one of them will work so I can get it rebuilt and have it running here soon.

The plans for the car this winter is going to be SR20 swapped in, with new 5speed, R180 LSD rearend, coilovers/280zx brake swap and a bodyjob/paintjob.
Surprisingly the car is in AMAZING shape for Nova Scotia.

But without further ado.. Pictures!

first bought the car like this

then just gradually have been tinkering away at it.
I don't get much time as I'm only back on weekends, but I'd say progress has been coming along.

and then me and my buddy decided we'd both mangabomb our fenders since we're both doing bodyjobs once the snow hits. (I'm replacing the fenders with my fiberglass flared fenders so no big deal)

Just to throw in some extra pictures..

This is what is replacing the V8Z24's current spot in the yard

and the other datsun I bought on fathers day... which I was going to restore, but my cousin actually wants to buy it. (just doesn't know I'm robbing 40% of the parts off it for my 510 hahaha) ... 74 datsun 260z

if this works, try it.

but I finally got the car running tonight for a few seconds!
Carbs are a little screwed, so I think I'm sticking on dual-webers unless i can find the missing parts but sure felt good to get it going!
Spent all day with my buddies trying to get as much done to it as we could. A lot of wires replaced, different coil (god damn I hate points...), gas lines, rockguard, seats, painted hood black and a few other small things...
video of the thing running for two seconds before realising the carbs were screwed!

I love and want this car :D. Needs fender mirrors I think :D.

I'll stay tuned for your progress.
I'm actually ordering some when I start doing the body haha!

I got it running well, and said screw it, and tore it all apart. Currently going to be welding up the seams even more, welding up holes, shaving the engine bay, and getting it ready for a brand new(to me) SR20DET.

and a few other pictures for what it looked like when I was going to run it as-is.
But instead, I'm tearing it apart and doing the body ;)
Just need a funky color to paint it. Probably orange.

Said screw it, since I won't even be able to daily drive this until next spring so,
started tearing it all apart, and this came for it. :D

S13 SR20det redtop!

now instead of pushing around 80hp, we'll be pushing 200+hp haha

I decided to send it away the other day and get a professional to weld up my car so I don't hate myself later on. He was to cut + reverse crossmember, weld up seams, weld in taillight panel, and fill in some annoying holes with metal, weld in holes for side mirrors on the doors, and do a strut bar up.

<LINK_TEXT text="https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos ... e=5486883B">https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/10294224_10204010289512117_2742760951102937073_n.jpg?oh=98c681dc7263aa0e6b615d76f13dcd66&oe=5486883B</LINK_TEXT>
This is the car leaving to go get tightened up a little.

and here she is back to me yesterday
<LINK_TEXT text="https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/ ... def06a5f0b">https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xap1/v/t1.0-9/10665069_10204040475506748_7038404407910885972_n.jpg?oh=8e8962f467c7e77de1ef75cf5fc216ab&oe=54BAD4DA&__gda__=1420917903_9bcc0341fea053d33259e1def06a5f0b</LINK_TEXT>

Plan now is to grind down the welds, and shave the engine bay with bodyfill.
Then to start doing the body and wait for the FMIC with piping to come in, so I can mock the motor in place, and cut where the piping needs to go.

I already ordered a top-mount turbo manifold, downpipe, motor mounts, tranny crossmember and a few other odds + ends.

I'm going to montreal in a few days to see steel panther and Judas Priest, so I'm going to shop around at a couple of the local JDM importer shops/junkyards and see if I can snag a few pieces for this car. :p

Lol, A lot's happened

Converted the car to RHD(still need to weld some brackets and stuff on,cut up the dash, and a few other things)

Also just about to test-fit the motor because this came in!
<LINK_TEXT text="https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/ ... b39a31d562">https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/10553631_10204254641220757_5514437362973412458_n.jpg?oh=9b917129b62cfa0002b0e84d5aa4b559&oe=54AF5EFA&__gda__=1424825759_29631335d8d6a34d3d49bfb39a31d562</LINK_TEXT>
I've been waiting on the intercooler for a while so I know what exactly I have to cut out for the piping, and the intercooler to fit close to the rad support.

A lot's happened so I don't really know what say,
but I figured I'm using my subaru R160 LSD instead of buying an expensive R180 out of a WRX haha,
stripped car down to bare metal in most parts, stripped down to bare shell pretty much, working on making homemade coilovers, and some other odds and ends.
Tomorrow I'm going to start shaving the engine bay as 90% of the welding is done under the hood now.

As for some pictures since they do more talking haha!

I need to get an order going in from japan for parts, so I'm hoping to find a RHD steering box, center-link, and fender mirrors :p.

It'll be ready to be daily driven this spring hopefully haha

SR20 is in and mocked up for now. Going to mount the intercooler + cut the car up for the piping and then motors coming out so I can finish under the hood and paint it. (got a little beat up trying to figure out how to put the motor in such a small bay :p)

the RHD conversion is also done(minus needing to finish up the plastic peices for the dash for cosmetic purposes).

Also threw in the rollcage.
I've been meaning to go work on the cavalier but this thing is too distracting.

Car's currently getting it's body done. Patched up a couple rust problems, one more to go. Also need to fix some choppy repair jobs done by the previous owner on the fenders.

Do you guys think copper with metalflake will be a good combination for this little thing?

Currently have a steering box on the way(too much of a pain to get, holycrap), throttlecable kit, and fender mirrors. I need to order a front air-dam before the car is shipped to carstar, where my friend's boss is being kind enough to let us borrow their booth(after it's completely prepped here)

Tons haha, I've been busy!

Since I last posted I've...

Cut hole in firewall for throttlecable,
Drilled holes for gas pedal,
Finished my modified dashpad + painted it(storing it in my parents house so it doesn't get messed up haha),
Fixed quarter panels,
Rolled the lips,
fixed a hole in the rocker,
Mounted intercooler,
Cut holes for the piping,
Took motor back out,
shaved more of the engine bay,
2x highbuild featherfill on the body,
trunk + doors are done until they're mounted on the body(what a difference, no more looking like waves lmao),
Just sanded down hood to get it straight before a coat of real flat black paint rather than the rattlecan stuff,
Steering box came in + is painted,
Just ordered a spec stage2 clutch for sr20det,
Attempting to order new modified centerlink + idler arm,
got some cheap fender mirrors until I can afford the OEM stainless JDM ones,
cut part of the transmission tunnel to clear the SR 5-speed,
modified the heater to fit the sr20,
modified the sr20 to fit the heater,
dash is done,
Cut up my parts car and put the stock strut tower tops on,

...There's a lot more, but it's little things that I can't remember well due to it being so long since I last posted haha.
Basically though, the main concern has been the body and It's almost ready for paint.
Matter of fact, I'm going to be painting the engine bay this week(or weekend.) The color I picked out is Atomic orange(2008ish corvette).
The plan was to throw in some mini-flake, but apparently it's incredibly hard to get that, or any metalflake here in Canada anymore. It's apparently a dangerous good, and will be held at the border.
Oh well, It's already got two FX pearls in it, so it should look good regardless. I have a picture I'll post at the end but it really doesn't do the color any justice unless you see it in person.

Tonight, I was a little off, and decided to spray the car with some real primer(instead of featherfill), and made the idiotic mistake of forgetting to add reducer.
I clogged up four guns because I wouldn't give up lmao. At least I got my engine bay + jambs done though, so I can spray them with paint this weekend. Tomorrow I'll be mixing it correctly and spraying the entire car.
It's what I get for switching products so much that I forget the proper ratio's for each and single one... ahaha oh well.

As for some pictures!

I haven't taken any pictures lately as It's just the same old bodywork and primer haha, but I'll snap some soon as the paint hits the engine bay + jambs!

My plans are once the engine bay + jambs are done, to stick the motor back in, and run the wiring, do some of the plumbing, stick the steering box on and attempt to get the steering to work(as I'll probably still have to order a new centerlink and idler arm), stick the doors on, stick the trunk on, stick the gasdoor on, put the quarter glass in, stick the brand new windshield in once I get some rubbers, order new rubbe for the rear windshield and stick that in, and etc etc.

I'm looking at getting some 280zx struts right away so I can get some bigger brakes, as I probably won't have the money for coilovers right away.. Also trying to find some better seats! there was a deal on GTR ones but I was thinking about sourcing some recaro's..

I've gone out and looked at my cavalier a couple times and wanna tear into it, but the datsun's consuming all my money lol.

feel free to add me on facebook or instagram though if you want progress as soon as it happens. /sycklash and @sycklash, haha

incase anyone's interested,
heres progress so far.

Jambs + engine bay painted, throwing a few odds + ends together trying to piece it together so we can shove the motor + tranny in, and then put the doors + fenders on so we can finish alignment + bodywork, spray it with primer then ship it off to get painted by my buddy.

If this keeps up, it'll be my DD this summer afterall. :p

Yeaaah, It's been a while since I did an update ( website locked me out for a while and wouldn't send me activation code, finally tried again today lol.)

So long story short, I'm driving it and enjoying it lol.
If anyone has any questions feel free to ask because there's too much to post for an update from last post hahaha,
SR20det redtop is running very well with the 5speed ! just need to get a better rearend (probably an R180 from an STI Subaru) and it'll be good enough to beat without being worried about being stranded somewhere lol.
I've been taking it to a few shows and driving it lots so that's a plus. just weather has been crap lately here in Nova Scotia with all the rain and such.

I'll just picture whore because it'll show updates more than typing lol.

paint booth at work! in like marchish

talked my dad into taking his car out with mine for a bit

and the old cavalier is still kicking :p

I'll probably be posting more here since I can finally log in again lol.
plans for this though is to start daily'ing it once I get an oil cooler and a couple other issues bugged out.
Such a blast to drive though!
and the cavalier is going to be torn apart soon so I can make way for a better engine... now that I'm driving two turbo cars, I kinda have an urge to boost the hatchback. ....and I have an LS2 and a big diesel borg warner turbo laying around
