what size socket do you have to remove it? we have a special snap on 1 1/16th which fits over the new one just fine but isn't fitting over the stock one. i know seems weird but dad is having trouble, dad says the 1 1/16th is hitting the plastic on the old one and will not go down anymore. so we just gave up on it for the night.

we did atleast get the fuel pump, fuel filter, new front brake hoses, rear valve leak fixed, new 02 sensor, new plugs & wires. Now its just the alt. belt and this damn oil pressure sending unit left.

hmm, cant say ive ever actaully removed one, but would wrench work at all?...perhpas an 02 sensor socket?

I didn't have a deep socket so I just removed the starter. Then you have plenty of room to fit a wrench on it.

it's a bitch to get to on the 2.8's.. you pretty much need a deepwell socket.

they got smart with the 3.1's and moved it out into the open. :lol:

if you can get channel locks in there use those, thats how i got the one out on my 2.2 since i didnt have a special socket, worked awesome

use a shorty wrench.

There is a special socket that I purchased from part-source to do this, but having all that AC plumbing in the way makes it a PITA. I just used this socket with some pivot extensions and a bit of patience. :wink:
