the WRX is awesome if i could afford it i would get it in a heartbeat. the problem with them is getting work done on them, i would think it is really price if you look at the motor everything is berried under the turbo inter-cooler and a million wires. but they are rally cars if you can brake a WRX in one day you don't belong near a car :wink:

The engine and transmission in those vehicles are designed with rally abuse in mind - as such, you are getting one solid reliable bugger. Point of fact one of my dream cars is a WRX STi :love: , though the year I'd most want (1999-2000) they don't have in North America :cry: .

Read any reviews in any car magazines - those cars are worth their weight in gold. If I can swing it some day, I'd love to get a 1999-2000 2.5 RS and drop in an STi motor......**drools** :pimp:

man the 2.5 is garbage. thats what the new sti is right? the original wrx was turboing the 2.2, but now they are turboing the DOHC 2.5
we now have 207k km on the 2.5 in out 2000 legacy and the engine is junk. JUNK. PIECE OF SHIT. DIEING. Car=worth nothing with that shithole in there! 2 head gaskets in 3 years. nice work subaru.

oh ya and solid car? maybe thats why model year 2000-2002 subaru's got recalled due to FAILING REAR SUSPENSION. You see, they used shitty paint, and cars in the "salt belt" were rusting so bad in TWO years that the rear suspension was breaking!! holy shit!

that is the end of my subaru rant for this week.

edit: i'm pretty sure the 2.5 debuted in 00.

The STi is not using the same engine, yes it is same displacement but completely re-worked with the variable timing, the extra ponies was to compete with the lancer EVO. The 2.5 that you are talking about had a history with the piston skirts failing as they were too short. This was corrected in 2001. No it's not a J-body but still a good car!

Hey I'm surprised this thread hasn't been moved yet lol. But anyways... ok people I cannot afford a friggen WRX STi... lol I'm only 18.. jezz...but on a serious note Tomorrow I'm going to buy the WRX. I did some research and they are damn nice cars 8)

Lol I haven't even gotten the car yet lol. I have to wait for the dealer to give me it first... :p But after that there will be many pics to come. I still have pics of my GTI i had for a week until the tranny died lol.

the normal wrx has a 2.0L, not 2.2, and the 2.5L was around in '98, the 1st year of the 2.5RS...

personally i like the car,real sleeper w/out the rear spoiler but i test drove 2 earlier this year and 1 suffered a totally exploded clutch(shoulda seen the saleswoman's face :cry: ) w/the second 5krpm clutch drop and the other the car's clutch was already slipping......on top of that the actual "feel" of the car's interior was really cheap IMO for the price28k u.s.

my bad, ya, the 2L keep forgetting about that one. I was thinking the 2.5 Rs was a legacy, but it's an imprezza. Legacy's got the 2.5 in 00, at least in Canada. and Ritchic, how many kms on your wrx?
