Ok, as some of you might know, I just bought an 88z24, well the guy i bought it off had it sittin gin his driveway for a while..so basically it hasn't been run in a while. I went to pull it into my garage yesterday and when I put it in reverse..it starting coasting forward..so i put it in park , let it run for a minute, pu tit in reverse and it did it again. So i put my foot on the brake for about 30 seconds and finally the reverse kicked in..why is it taking so long for that to kick in???[/b]
First thing to check is trans fluid level, but its probably ok if drive works normally.
Most likely problem is the internal seals and o-rings have aged and shrunk so the trany cant build oil pressure normally. As it warms up the clearances get a little smaller so it eventually shifts into gear. You could try a can or two of trans conditioner available at any parts store which makes the rubber parts swell a little and seal better, otherwise you are probably in for a new trany.
YEAH............DILLSBURG AREA, COME ON AND RAISE UP, TAKE UR SHIRT OFF, THROW IT IN THE AIR, SPIN IT LIKE A HELICOPTER!!!
Damn chris i havent seen u on here in a while.
