Please do not move this, its performance related (3400 vs 3x00 topend swap ;) )

My best time was:

14.9 @ 94mph
2.3 60 foot
9.6 1/8 mile.

Anyways, dawgz24, afaik,you are STILL colin's BIATCH.
14.59 I believe he ran today.

I did manage to get a run with him also . .
We had one really good rece, almost identical reaction time, 60foot, and 1/8 mile .. . we were basically dead even until about 4k in 3rd. . where he started to pull away. . .until he went to shift. . and 4th gear wouldnt cooperate, and I guess this plagued him for the rest of the day :( I could have seen him beating me by 2 carlenghts or so by the end of the 1/4. . but all in all a very nice race. :)

BTW Colin: nice drop down down to 3rd on #8 highway, she just fucking pulls eh.

Well what I can recall from the timeslip (forgot them in the car) Colins 60 foot was about 0.02sec faster than mine when we raced .. thats with my bonestock suspension/tire setup. :p (original struts, shocks, eagle GT2's ;) ) So much for Koni's/bfgoodrich g-force :p (just messing with you colin) ;)

Probably best race ive ever had in my life . . so damn close :D

14.9 at 94....that it. is that all a 3400 is good for. all that work i would want a 14 flat at like a 100 miler per hour
my 3.1 without using the n2o runs a 14.97 at 93.10 mph the n2o on and a good hook up i can hit 13.88 at 101.13.

is it better to go bigger like to the 3400 or do the 31xx top end...it just seams like alot of work for small gains
has anyone ran a 1/4 mile with the 31xx top end
remember our cars are at least 10 years old and the new stuff that is smaller is beating a 14.9
Car And Driver 1991 avg. 1/4mile time out of all cars tested was a 15.60 and avg. hp was 200
2002 avg. 1/4 mile was 14.76 avg. hp was 260

i will not lose to a Honda... my friends 1.6 si with cams runs 14.8's

i do not mean to start trouble but people say the 3.1 intake are no good and the 3.1 it self is to small or is a bad design...but for those that have a 3400 or did the 31xx top end do not seam to be going any faster

Umm, lets see....

Most 3.1s even with some mild bolt ons are getting mid to high 15s, some are low 16s.

I have yet to see a gen3 660 or a hybrid do any worse than a 14.9, once at least a little tuning was done. Colin is mid 14s, with (sorry man...) less than desirable 60' times, he's running 2.2 60' along with a few other people doing the same, I ran many 2.2 and 2.3 60' times with my STOCK 3.1 manual in my Skyhawk, but ran high 15s consistantly, this shows the 3x00 top end end good for top end power and has greater pull in the upper RPM ranges. I was launching at idle, and didn't reach WOT until I was already in 2nd gear, this was due to a poor chassis design and worn components, which I never got around to upgrading.
There is another larger factor here that not many people address, and will greatly effect 60' times, which will in turn reduce 1/4 mile ETs, which is chassis tuning, and sadly most of the people running a 3x00 or hybrid have worn out chassis' and need to address them.
And then there is the driver's skill, which can vary from one person to another.

If you have ever cut apart a gen2 intake you will see how restrictive it is and poorly it is deigned in comparison to a newer intake.

Few things:

One: it runs 14.9 on a BONESTOCK 3400 motor, 1.5 seconds faster than the average stock 3.1L 5spd.

Two: I havent even started modding the engine, while your 3.1L has quite a few things done to it, pretty pathetic IMO for a 3.1L.
Stock for stock, the 3400 will blow the doors off any 3.1L.
Moded vs Moded, the 3400 will STILL blow the doors off any 3.1L.

Three: Im willing to bet that you have a shitload more money into your car than I have, plus my engine is more efficient and reliable.

Four: WTF do you mean by "all that work", for god sakes, its not that hard.

the_raven:Yeah, Its hard to get good 60foots .. first few runs I was spinning through first and second gear. Too much torque for a fwd and street tires.

Raven is right...open up the breathing for the motor and you'll run some pretty quick times.. Your nitrous kit on a 3400 toppend swap would probley run you into the 13's Also most people who have done the swaps haven't fully tuned there cars

the LSD was great.... lowered my 60 foots down to 2.2's most of the time. it was hard to get traction yesterday as it was like 5 degree's C out... which i think would be like 40's or 50's? F?? they would run us (small engines and compacts) then let the big guys run... so in between gettting runs in you had to wait like 30 mins to 40 mins between your run.. not optimum for keeping tire heat in with that cold of weather. so every run was a PITA as you'd have cold tyres and i think loose out on traction due to the cold. i did huge burnouts every run. should see the rubber down the side of the car. (hey theBFG kd tyres were free ;) )

the LSD is really noticable in corners, holds both from spinning. wicked traction there!

yeah i know i gotta get those brake parts from you. need some disc's to slow me down after the runs LOL... i'll be getting my crap together and get you some $$ soon man, thanks for the patience!

??? um hello where have you been for the last 2 years???.. last years time i ran 14.6's and this year 14.59

as for the rest of your comments.. im not even going to bother arguing. not worth the time..
