I just picked up my Z24 today (first car too!), it's an '89, 5 speed manual.
It seems to have trouble starting, I HAVE to give it gas, or it won't start. and after I start it, I have to keep touching the gas as the rpms get lower, or it will stop.

The previous owner told me that it's only been doing that since the hot weather started, i'm just wondering what the causes could be and how I can fix them, (or get them fixed)

Well congrats on your z24. The first investment you need is a service manual from Chiltons or Haynes.
The second thing is give that car a good tune up before you really start driving it. Itll do the car good and maybe cure your problem. Youll need to do a lot of maintenance to it to keep it running sweet so be patient with it and dont get in a hurry.
Hope this helps.
