This goes for quite a few people - don't run the accessory belt so that it'll operate the A/C. The majority of people I know don't use it, because that's what windows are for. Having the belt run around the A/C is thus pointless, as it takes away from performance.
Well, the AC doesnt eat up much power when its not on. It you want to remove it, you will need to get an "Idler Pully" to go in its place, to take up the slack in the belt, and to keep it routed correctly. It won't work to just bypass the AC by not running the belt around it
