Ok, Ive asserted that Ive got the timing off by just a notch when I put her back together. Now, I probably have already answered my question, but is there any way to change or adjust timing other than by taking off the timing chain and adjusting??
If the timing were off just a tooth or so, would that keep the car from idling normally and wanting to quit? It runs basically smooth when given gas, but kinda stumbles just a bit when idling. Also, when I shut her down, it will predetonate to the point it will turn the engine backwards a couple of times. Nothing damaging, but not normal.
Ill probably retime, just want some opinions before I do this weekend.
BTW, I reset the computer and the fan only comes on during initial startup and once run for 5-10 seconds, it quits. I think the computer is trying to compensate in some manner for the off timing of the engine.
Any helpful replies will be much appreciated.
Thanks for the previous posts too.

Well Ive confirmed what I thought. The exhaust cam was off by one notch in the timing. The problem was I didnt have long enough bolts to hold the cams while installing the chain.
I hope to get her up and running by Monday or at the latest next weekend. Im still skeptical, but this should solve my problems.
Keeping fingers crossed.

Well since Ive been the only one posting on this thread, I figured Id tell myself that the car runs great since the timing has been redone.
The first time I got on the gas and it shifted, I wouldve swore the drive train was coming out from under the car. Talk about get up and go. She rocks. I can be certain that shell run 15's now in the 1/4.
Ill have some pics up by next weekend for all to see of the engine and newly complete cold air intake.
Im glad shes running good, nothing like 8 weeks without your favorite ride.
Later.
